Several of us have mentioned buying goodies at Trader Joe’s. I thought it would be fun to share recommendations. denice denice mentioned Mandarin Orange Chicken in another thread, and I buy that too! Here are some of my other favorites: :yummy:
  • Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce
  • Unexpected Cheddar
  • Organic Reduced Sugar Raspberry Preserves
  • Rice Orzo Pilaf Mix
  • Lemon Shortbread Bar Mix
  • Organic Toasted Sesame Dressing (it’s extremely thick so I add olive oil which also makes it last longer)
  • Triple Ginger Snaps
  • Vanilla Bean Infused Vermont Maple Syrup (actually has a vanilla bean in it!)
And I wait every year for December and the arrival of the English Toffee! It’s like Almond Roca but less expensive. (Costco carries Almond Roca during the holidays.)

Any recommendations?

Ooh trader joes! I don't go there as often anymore but when I do it's to get:

Triple ginger cookies - I love ginger so this is a must.
Pre cooked lasanga pasta - So delicious on my lasanga and saves time.

The closest one is in Omaha so I have to stock up when I go :D.

Speculoos cookie butter
Triple ginger cookies (there are several kinds of cookies I get but this is THE must-have)
Sourdough bread
Hummus (theirs is better than other brands, I don't know why)
Those squished dried sponges that pop up when you get them wet
Trail mix, nuts, dried fruit (can get elsewhere but theirs is cheaper)
Various interesting salad dressings
Their granola cereal with dried mango and berries
If I plan ahead and bring ice packs, I like some of their frozen prepared meals, especially the Indian food

At this point I can find *acceptable* substitutes at other stores (Walmart has Biscoff cookie butter, Hy-Vee has a health section with decent salad dressings, etc.) but I still like to go. I wish they'd make one in Sioux Falls.

I tried the Walmart cookie butter as well, my local one has a Great Value speculoos product of Germany - it's a slightly different taste and consistency but still pretty darn good :lovecat2:

It is a product similar in consistency to peanut butter, but it is made from cookies called Speculoos, and it's ridiculously yummy LOL

I was thinking of making my own cookie butter from graham crackers, but I haven't done that yet :)

I see we have lots of triple ginger snaps fans! :) I always have those in the cupboard. They also make fantastic travel snacks.

Their frozen lasagna is pretty good, too. I usually keep it on hand for those days I just don’t feel like cooking.

W Willowy is the sourdough bread already made...the one in the fresh bread section?

The nearest Trader Joes is three hours away from me. Maybe someday.
This is the first time we’ve lived near a TJ’s. I’ve been making up for lost time these past four years!

What is cookie butter?
Since we have a Trader Joe's 10 min. away I was curious about this too.

:thanks: Thanks for the explanation. I'll have to look for it the next time I go shopping.

I like the T.J. Gluten Free Brown Rice & Quinoa Fusilli pasta. I always keep an extra bag of it in the house.

I get the freeze dried fruit with no added sugars. Great for my bunnies evening treat without those sneaky sugars the pet store version adds.

Ah, that reminds me! I make the girls’ food, and TJ’s has high quality boneless chicken thighs for $2.69/lb. Organic, no additives.

When I flew into Columbus, OH, to see my mom, I used to stop at TJ’s near the airport and buy her a huge bouquet of flowers. Very inexpensive beautiful cut flowers.

It's probably the same one I go to at Easton. I sometimes get flowers for myself. I like their ginger cookies as well but I have Girl Scout cookies in the freezer so I didn't get any today.

They often have apple pies in the baked goods aisle. They are made with an old variety of apples called Northern Spy and they are good. They also have frozen dark cherries that are good. I sometimes get a couple of bottles of wine.

That's a fantastic price for boneless organic thighs. Wow!

The closest locations to me are West Palm Beach to the south (60ish miles) or Orlando to the north (80ish miles). I'd go to Orlando first. The further south you go, the worse the traffic gets. DD went to UCF and I used to go up there at least once a month. One of these days I'll take a trip up there armed with a cooler and some ice packs.
