I noticed yesterday that Manny's mane was wet which, at first, I just attributed to him drinking out of the fountain. His mane has grown out since his last grooming and it's pretty normal for him to get it wet when drinking. Then, I started noticing what looked like drops of water in odd places on the carpet so, I started paying closer attention to him and he appears to be drooling quiet a bit.
He went to sleep beside me on the couch and when he woke up and moved I noticed a damp spot where his mouth was. This seems to be happening mostly when he sleeps or is dozing but, I have noticed like a drop of saliva hanging from his chin. It doesn't seem slimy or anything. It's odorless and looks just like water. I've noticed no difference in behavior, eating, drinking or, litter box habits. He does seem to be a little stuffy after a nap.
I've already done some research on the internet and seems it could be a number of things. I suspect an allergy of some sort. Nothing has changed in his diet other than I did change his dry food. It's the exact same brand just a different flavor. He has always been prone to sneezing but not what I would call excessive. I have mentioned this to my vet and they didn't seem overly concerned. The litter I have been using is quiet dusty and have been planning to go to a dust free litter as soon as I used up what was left of what I had which, I just used up last week. The next change will be dust free.
Just wondering if anyone has run across this and, if it could be a sign of something serious. As I am writing this he is sleeping deeply on a comforter 4 ft. away. No funny noises, his breathing isn't labored and, he seems to be sleeping peacefully.
Forgot to mention one thing. I have had cat grass around for him the last few weeks. I don't always keep it around but, he has had it before and it didn't seem to have this effect. He eats grass when we go outside for walks. During the winter months I keep it around more since there' not as much for him to eat in the winter outside.
