How Do I Help This Mother?

So I live in Egypt with my parents; I'm underage and will finish highschool this year.
So this summer I was out of country for roughly three months, and when I came back, I found that a cat had given birth in our apartment building; she moved between floors as they were working on some stuff and it was very noisy for her and the kittens, and they eventually moved to our floor.
I'd feed her scraps and little bits of food, and she'd let me hold her kittens and move them around, though she's very moody herself, but she generally tolerates me and I like to think that she's beginning to like me; she runs up to me and purrs as she rubs against my leg, but other times she would just turn around and bite/scratch me when I try to pet her... Before immediately rubbing up against my leg again. She even lets me pick her up sometimes, but no belly rubs.
The kittens left a while ago, but now she's pregnant again. It's winter and it's pretty cold, but the doorman and his wife kick her out whenever they find her inside. How can I help her? I want to make sure she gives birth in an environment safe from the harsh weather. She's been pregnant for roughly three or four weeks at most. Her sides aren't very big, and last time she had two babies only (or three and one of them died, but I wasn't there so I have no idea).

Do I feed her normal cat food? I can't give her meat because raw meat is bad and we cook meat with onions, and I know that onions and garlic are highly toxic to cats. I might be getting her some cat food two or three times a week. Do I get her wet food or cat food? Kitten food? Normal cat food?

Also, is it okay if I pick her up while she's pregnant? She doesn't like being picked up very much but I sometimes have to do it to move her somewhere else. I try to put my hand on her chest and the other by her feet because I don't want to put my hand under her stomach.

Sounds like you’re already getting quality advice from Furballsmom , so I just wanted to add... the reason she changes from purring/rubbing againat you to biting and such sounds like overstimulation. Especially since she is pregnant certain parts of her body must be really sensitive and she would also be more protective. Hormones would be out of wack too.

Have you considered trapping her and having her spayed?

Do you have the option of keeping her in your place while she is pregnant/giving birth so she is pregnant?

She would benefit greatly from being fed kitten food whenever possible. The biggest thing you could do for her is to get her spayed. The other kittens most likely didn't 'leave' they most likely died or were driven off by tom cats when they got older. It is a horrible, cold life for stray cats. She is scared stiff but loves you and allows you to handle her somewhat because you are her only source of comfort and food. But she is still so scared.....it would be great if you could find a home for her. You will be blessed for noticing her and trying to help her, I thank you!

As mentioned, kitten food would be great because the way it is formulated to help kittens is also similarly useful for pregnant cats,. and also any other food she'll eat , canned would be better if possible for the higher moisture and maybe additional kibble.

She's actually somewhat calmed down after getting pregnant. She wouldn't let me touch her sides for too long, though that's expected. I sadly do not have that option, but if I did I would've taken it already. I hope she gives birth on the doorstep like last time though and not in the street. It's very cold right now.

Then it's most likely the latter. I thought mother cats made their babies go away when they got old enough, though? But we do have a few toms in the street. She'd often run up to me because they're scared of people and wouldn't come near me.

Ah, I see. I'll be getting her kitten food as soon as possible, then. She also sometimes hunts down birds herself, and other people in the building give her scraps sometimes.

Update: She gave birth. Five babies. I haven't seen them yet, as I don't want to get too close. She hisses at me at first then runs up to me when she realizes it's me. And she keeps appearing from around corners and spooks me.

I got her some Friskies Junior but I'm not very sure about it, as I heard that Friskies isn't very good. She loved it though.

She's started doing the thing where after I give her food, she walks up to me and starts rubbing against me instead of eating right away and I honestly couldn't feel prouder.

Since she's eating it, I'd say you're fine. You could always introduce something else later on

But is Friskies safe? I heard it's bad for cats.

My cats have lived on Friskies for many generations with no problems, you get what you can afford and what she likes. It's worse for them to starve!

Well, she seems to like it a lot, and the packets are very cheap, so I guess I'll feed her those.
I give her a packet every other day, she gets other stuff between the days. Yesterday she got a packet, some turkey, and some very meaty scraps.

Every other day is great as a method of rotation, because the other foods give her system a chance to deal with any undesirable ingredients and additives

I mean, that's just a horror story.

Has any of that changed?

I mean, could you bring her inside your place? Only 2 things are needed: a cardboard box for her "nest" and another box for her toilet.

Meantime, yes, it's great that you are helping...but, if she doesn't get fixed, this cycle of kittens will never end.

If you post the town/city you're in, we could snoop around and try to find some help for her.
