Ah. Well, historically, men were always free to have mistresses and beat their wives, so it's better that they cut each other loose rather than play those games.

I don't think children are considered more disposable now. I know a lot of older people whose siblings were dumped with a different family and they never saw them again. My grandpa's brother got dumped at some point (in the '30s), given to relatives who treated him like trash because he wasn't their biological kid, but they eventually took him back, unlike some families.

And kids are treated SO much better now.

At any rate, I dispute the idea that people are worse now, to animals or humans. There's a fair amount of evidence to the contrary.

I am about ready to toss in the towel on the so-called human race. In the local news lately was a story about how 2 dogs were beaten, burned, and put in trash bags and dumped by the side of the road. What is it with alleged people like that? The only good to come out, to date, is that over $6000 has been put up as a reward towards finding the lowlife(s) responsible. As far as I am concerned, hanging is too good for whoever did it.
And here I feel guilty and about an 1" big because I won't let my dog on the bed. Old man Beagle lost a canine and he bled all over my white comforter. Washed it with Oxy and it came right out, but I'm not letting him back up until he quits bleeding. My blanket looked like a massacre happened.
I feel guilty for putting him in his bed, and people are out there beating and burning their pets. What is wrong with people?!

I felt guilty for making Lelia wait 15 minutes for playtime on Wednesday so that I could eat a small dinner after a long day and time at the gym, and she was confused why it was playtime and we weren't playing.

And yet, as you say, there are people who will actually abuse their animals without a second thought. I don't get it either.

PS Alicia88 Alicia88 - Happy 1st to Aedan! Looks like he's enjoying it.

I am full of the itis.
Gastroenterologist says esophagitis and gastritis and took two samples for biopsy, and pcp says bronchitis.

Woo!
The general anesthetic was way better than the last one at the wisdom tooth removal.

He's so cute!

Haha, there's a picture of me at that age, sitting in a high chair with blue frosting smashed all over my face just like that! I'll see if my mom can find it and then see if I can figure out how to post it.

LOL, it was a cheap dollar tablecloth and it caught most of the mess so it went in the trash. Baby went straight to the tub and I used our sprayer showerhead to rinse as much off him as I could, then gave him a bath. And John handled the high chair. So it wasn't too terribly bad.

As long as society gives these horrible animal abusers a slap on the hand instead of real punishment, like mandatory jail or a huge fine, they will continue to prey on the helpless. I think laws should be passed that make abuse/torture a felony. I think their pictures should be plastered all over every newspaper along with pictures of what they did too. They should be known as predators, because if you think they stop at animals, think again!

In Arizona, it's a class 5 felony.

Do you listen to that 'relaxing' music sometimes to fall asleep? You know, the ones with whales/birds/rain/chirping crickets and other sounds in the background of soft synthetic music.
You're in bed, nice and warm and cozy, with a dog under the blanket against your back, a cat under the blanket against your tummy and another cat on top of the blankets on your legs. Then the rain segment comes on, and you think "Thanks, now I have to pee".

A Class 5 felony is basically nothing. Plus it's really hard to get a conviction in animal abuse cases. They always have some excuse like "the dog growled at my kid!" and they tend to be let off.
I realize that. However, it used to be a class 6 felony and it was found out that judges were dropping the charge to a misdemeanor with basically a slap on the hand and some probation. Lawmakers changed it in Feb. last year so that it now carries a 1 year prison sentence as well as fines.
If they find judges are still letting people off, they will probably change it to a class 4. Az is not putting up with animal cruelty. Unfortunately, a lot of it slips through the cracks.
