The two stray cats I've been caring for are missing. I haven't seen them for five days. We built shelters for them with hay which they used. One would stay all the time. Both cats came twice a day everyday for food . Now they're gone. It's so sad.

It is possible they are being fed elsewhere? Also are they spayed/neutered? If not they may be off looking for a mate. Don't give up hope that they won't return. I have had feral cats go missing for a long as 8 months and then return.

One kitty came back today. I think maybe he was stuck somewhere. He was starving. He ate a whole 5.5 oz can of Friskies plus he scarfed down some kibble.
So glad one returned. Hopefully the other is on the way.
I have had ferals do that as well....return weeks later, apparently having known where to get food and find shelter. Having said that, my friend recently thought that she had lost her indoor/outdoor pet when he did not return for 9 days and it turned out he was trapped someplace. If you are on decent terms with neighbors, it is not a bad idea to ask about recently opened and closed garages, sheds, etc.
