Cat Peeing And Pooping On My Brother's Bed

Hello all!
My female cat Izzy has starting doing something strange out of the blue. She has started peeing and pooping on my brother's bed. We thought it was because she was upset about the fleas, so we treated her fleas. And treated the house for fleas. But, she did it again this morning. This is about the 3rd time she has done this. We have been discouraging our male cat from using her litter because we think it's part of the problem. But I wanted to get some insight from others. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? I don't want to have to put her on meds but if this continues she may need it. I have thought about replacing the litterboxes themselves and starting new.

Hi. How long ago did you treat her for fleas? Long enough ago that the treatment is in full effect? When you say 3 times - in how long of a time period? How old is Izzy?

Is it only your brother's bed and no where else? Where is Izzy's litter box in proximity to the bed? How many litter boxes do you have in comparison to the number of cats you have? The general rule of thumb is one for each cat, plus one. But, in your case, you might want to consider a 4th one since you think there is an issue with the male cat using her box. And, of course, be sure they are cleaned out regularly. Some cats just don't like using an already used litter box, and sometimes that can happen out of nowhere.

The only other thing that comes to mind: Make sure you get rid of any smell on the bed linens. You might not be able to smell it, but if there is any small lingering odor, you can guarantee Izzy can. If the smell is not completely removed, it could very well draw her back to the same spot to go again. Enzymatic cleaners for clothing/bed linens is about the only way to be sure you remove the smell entirely.

I think we treated her about 4 days ago. But we have been treating her for about a month now. Fleas are so stubborn!! I wanna say she has done it every other day. So Sunday, Tuesday, and Today. It's mainly been pee on the bed, but today she peed and pooped! Izzy is about 5 years old. She did go poop on my youngest brother's bed last week twice. We have 4 litter boxes in total. Two for Izzy and two for my Male cat, Gato. Izzy's litter boxes are located in the corner of my brother's room. I try my best to clean it once in the morning and once at night. Sometimes I do it more cause I know they can be picky.
I will go pick up some cleaner after work, I am willing to do anything at this point to get her to stop.

If it has just been on the brother's bed where her litter boxes are located, I would have said that there is something going on with her and her litter boxes. Like, perhaps, Gato is also using those boxes and she doesn't like it. But, if she has pooped in another room - not affiliated with her boxes, it sounds like it might be a bigger problem. Or, is that where Gato's boxes are? Just trying to throw out things you might want to look further into to see if you can pick up on ideas for the change. I know I said that litter box preference changes can seem to happen out of nowhere, but in this case something changed with either her or Gato - or some other event in your household.

How is she eating and drinking normally? How long ago has it been that she has been checked out by a vet?

They do not go outdoors, I am treating both, but it's like I treat one and another gets it. Both my brother's are in the same room, so both their beds are located in the same place. And I have seen Gato use her litter box a couple of times, which I think is a part of why she is upset. Gato's litter boxes are located in my room, she has gone in my room a couple of times. But never used his litter. Gato likes to invade her space. She is eating and drinking normal, she begs me for food usually when I shake the bag.

Oh, that makes better sense then. Thanks for clarifying! Is there any type of material or items that Gato doesn't like and that don't bother Izzy? If so, I would set up something nearby/on Izzy's boxes that would discourage Gato from using them.

Honestly I dunno if there is. The only thing he doesn't like is peppermint scented things, but Izzy may not like that scent either. I will try and see if I can find something he doesn't like.
