The day before Thanksgiving is bad timing for a CDC recall on romaine for e.coli.
I heard this on the news last night but had already bought Romaine lettuce for a big salad I was planning to make tomorrow. :sigh: I sent DH to the store early this morning and he said the shelves were completely obliterated and replaced with other alternative lettuce.

Geez, how many times has romaine lettuce been recalled in the past couple years now? I wonder why it has so many more problems than other types of lettuce.
I wondered the same thing. Why romaine, and not all lettuces and other leafy greens?

All I can think is the more popular something is, the more of it is grown and the more likely something will go wrong, which would explain why we're not seeing recalls for your Boston butter lettuce, but I thought iceberg was pretty popular, too and I don't recall that having problems. Or maybe it just seemed popular because that's what my mom always bought.

My recipe app has a chicken with roasted romaine recipe I quite enjoy, but I guess that's going on the back burner until it's safe to eat again.

What about if someone is growing romaine in their backyard? Is that not allowed to eat either?

I'd sure think that backyard, garden grown, lettuce from seed would be 100% safe. E.coli is from feces bacteria getting on the leaves. :barfgreen:

I better take some herbs. I've been eating Romaine on my sandwiches all week and I don't wanna get sick.
I don't think herbs would help if you had E.coli. If you have been eating romaine all week I think you would be showing symptoms of E.coli by now. People get E.coli because farmers don't provide proper bathroom factilities for their workers.

Omg and ya still eat it?!
The pain from the heat makes me feel good for some reason. Endorphins maybe?
Ghost Pepper is like a million on the Scoville Scale I think. :eek2:

Yes there are dozens of herbs that "help" issues...we just cant say publicly that they treat anything or the FDA will threaten to ban them
Yeah, that's why I said "secret", I never give advice on herbs. I keep all the secrets to myself. :D
