2 months after my 10-yeared cat Knight passed away, I felt ready to have another cat in my life. so I picked up this one from the animal shelter end of Oct.

What does he look like to you?

Estimated DOB: April 2018

Coat - grey / blue. looks like single coat to me

Eyes - yellow. there is a faint green ring around his pupil

Behaviors
- cautious at first but quickly became affectionate. On the first day home, he hid in my closet. but on the first night, he jumped to sleep on my chest.
- seemed nervous when I played music loud for the first time.
- gets along with my roommates.
- follows me around the house quite a bit. will jump on my lap.
- runs to the small toy I throw in front of him and does not fetch it back.
- relatively docile and willing to be picked up.

He’s a very handsome cat! I would describe him as a blue Domestic Shorthair. You could also call him a Maltese cat. He has quite a bit of an Oriental look to him, with his wedge-shaped head, large ears, and long legs, so it’s possible that he might have some Oriental in his ancestry.

He could prob get job as a stand in for a pet quality russian blue.

The head and body shape are ok.
Behavior too consistent with rb - but also with many cats.

Congratulations on adopting this beautiful boy and my sympathies for the loss of Knight. Having experienced the loss of a senior cat and the adoption of a young one, just seeing the liveliness and play of a youngster is very healing.
He sounds like he will bring a great of companionship and affection to you.

Thanks StefanZ. Yeah I was wondering if he could have an RB or Korat grandparent. Then I learned that domestic cats tend to be healthier than purebred ones. So having a RB / Korat looklike Maltese is like having the best of both world ha.

Have you ever had blue cats?

Hi Susan, thank you for your kind and beautiful words, which make me feel understood. Do you have photos of your cat friends?

The beautiful girl on your left in the small photo is my Willow, adopted as a one year old semi feral seven years ago. She isn’t a lap cat but always near me and utterly sweet and well behaved.

The large picture is my Murphy, my devil cat and best friend of 19 years who passed from cancer was just a week before I adopted Willow. If I post or have posted any stories about a misbehaving cat, they are usually Murphy stories. After she died I didn’t think I wanted another cat but went to a shelter “just to look” and came home with Willow.

He is a very fine looking cat - I can see some rb influence especially with that flatter nose profile, some other thing not quite so much. Niki won’t ferch either lol loves ‘catching’ toys but then I have to go to to other end of the hall and throw them again (this can go on for quite some time - but hey the excercise is good for me). I hope you have lots of fun together
