Hello all,

I have a ragdoll done a foreign-body surgery about 6 days ago. She recovered pretty well after the surgery on the last Tuesday evening and she has been eating canned food from Wednesday to Friday. We noticed she didn't eat anything on Saturday. Thus, we gave her some cooked chicken breast and she ate all those meat on Sunday. Today we gave her some blended chicken breast and canned food but apparently she's not very interested in canned food and only ate half of the mixture.

No bleeding, no vomiting, nothing abnormal other than low appetite starting from the 4th day. She has been locked in the washroom to keep her away from the house mates, and she gets very energetic these days playing with her toy alone since last weekend.

She pooped/peed normally. Now we released her into our living room and temporarily released her cone. She looks so happy walking around the home and even try to play chasing and hiding with her house mate. Could she be too depressed in the washroom for too long and get unmotivated with her regular food on the 4th day? The hospital says she might need a recheck if her appetite is decreased. I already spent $2000+ from her surgery so I'm not sure if this recheck is necessary. Could someone give me some similar experience?

Thanks!

Have you tried feeding her since she has been out of the bathroom? If she still isn't eating normally I would get her checked. There can be complications following this surgery and catching it early would make things much easier.

Thanks for your reply. She was only allowed to get out of the bathroom for a short moment as we didn't want her jump all around and make her incision worse. So she took all her time on "exploring" the house. But last night after we locked her back into the washroom, she did eat all the food in the plate. And we notice she ate all the dry food and leave the canned food in the plate and also we saw her drinking some water this morning. So maybe she is okay and just prefer her regular dry food rather than canned food?

Hi!
If you can, try adding some slightly heated water and mix that into her canned food?
Thank you. I will try that next time. I was really surprised that she only ate dry food instead of canned food. We tried different brands of canned food and she didn't like them since the 4th day.

We have house sat for a neighbors cats, who usually hate dry food but go for any wet food like it's crazy.
They don't believe us when we tell them the cat leaves the wet food out and scarfs the dry, and when we come back in the wet food it this hardened mess.
Who knows. I'm glad she's eating a bit more though.
