I lost my cat last Tuesday. I'm in agony right now so I know I might sound a bit nuts to some but yesterday I saw some things which gave me hope. The biggest thing that is getting me is not knowing where he is. I asked for a sign yesterday morning and pretty much all day was asking for something.

I went to run an errand and on my way back walking, I came across a white feather. Just a couple of days earlier, my friend was telling me his family was seeing white feathers in unexpected places after his grandmother's death. So when I saw it, it caught my eye. I took a picture to send to him. Now, I live in NYC and it could have been a pigeon white feather but it was large and in the middle of the sidewalk. A few minutes later, the sky had a black cloud loom over and then there was a big ray of light shining through. It looked very usual and people were commenting on it in the street. And then when I got home, I looked up the significance of the white feather and it means that a loved one has safely made it to heaven. I cried when I read this.

And maybe I'm just stretching it here, but later still wasn't sure what was or wasn't a sign, I was sitting on my couch and something was pricking my back. I felt around and something was sticking out of my throw pillow and it was a white feather. (but the pillow is made of feathers, however, this hadnt happened with that pillow before)

So yes, I was looking for signs and maybe it's wishful thinking that I saw these things. On the other hand, I could have easily not have seen them/they not have happened. But it's on the day I ask for a sign. I know no one can answer this for sure, we can never know. But what do you think?

First, I just want to say that I'm so, so sorry for your loss.:alright:

When mine passed last month, I actually found his favorite toy which had been lost for months. I just got the urge (the day after he passed) to look in a specific spot, even though I had looked there before, and there it was! I then placed it in his food dish that I put in my china cabinet (I couldn't let the other cats use his bowl, so I put it in a safe place on display), when I left the dining area to mope on the couch, I heard him meow. It was NOT in my head, it was perfectly audible, and it came from the dining area. It was his "hello", "play with me" meow.
I can't say whether the feathers are your sign or not, but if you believe it to be so, if you feel that connection, it has to mean something.
I think my Hank told me where his toy was, and finding his toy and giving it back to him by putting it in his dish (he would always put his toys in his food bowl), he answered me, and thanked me. He was telling me that he was playing again, that he was OK.

Sometimes you just need to trust your gut because as you said, it's not something you can prove. I would say that your little one was coming to you in a way that when you saw the sign, you would make the connection. No sense in giving you a sign that would go over your head, or go unnoticed right? Your little one is safe, happy and well in her new place, and even if the physical signs of her presence no longer appear, she will still be with you. :angel:

I am so sorry for your loss. I really am...

Yes, White Feathers are really one of the most common 'signs"

I have been finding a ton of Artie's sponge balls.. Found a couple in places where I could have sworn I vacuumed, really good... yet, low and behold, they just appear.

I also have a kind of 'black hole' at the end of the entertainment center. I keep moving it to clean around it. I still find more sponge balls, just sliding out from under it....

Very weird.. but perhaps, we just lost them in there, and they are coming out now... so weird...

I am taking it as signs....

I also, occasionally feel as if I am seeing a glimpse of Artie, like a white shadowy form, at the other end of the couch, where he stayed either in his quilt tent, or just lied on top of the quilt. More of something like a quick flash; yet, when I focus, it is gone..

I swear I heard him talking to me, when I had my last refrigerator.. It sounded just like him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My dad, who lived with me, died in Jan 2012. He always said he would never leave me.
I broke my upper arm, very badly in July 2012. I had to live 24/7 in his electric lift chair. Artie was on my lap..
One night, I was sleeping.. suddenly I heard what sounded like a bed springs moving from my dad's room. I did not jump, I was not started. I just opened my eyes.
Artie was on my lap, sleeping; lying still.
When I heard it again, I did not move. I looked directly at Artie, to see if he heard it.. Artie turned his head right in the direction of my dad's bedroom. He heard it also..
The third time I heard it, I called, "Daddy? Daddy?"... Artie looking at my dad's room.
After I called my dad, the noise stopped.
I was not dreaming, nor was I high on painkillers.. It happened...
~~~~~~~~~~
After my mom died, I always saw a Monarch Butterly, each summer... that continues to this day...My mom was an awesome gardener.
~~~~~~~
Do I believe in signs.. Yes, I do....
Thanks for sharing your story. He would always send me messages with his toys so Im leaving them out just in case. He'd gather a bunch of them and leave them by his dish or put them on our bed. And your right about a gut feeling, I always felt that our love was so strong and it had already gotten us through so much together. I don't see why this wouldnt also be the case.
There is a thread from the past on here, maybe you can find it if you search and it talks in length about this very topic. And yes, white feathers are sent from Heaven, I have a cupful of them after my friend passed from bone cancer 12/16/07, we would get them EVERYWHERE, places where there is no way a bird could be there like falling from our kitchen cupboard, on clothing, on the ground, on the floor, everywhere to make sure that we saw them! It was you kitty saying "I am fine now, just fine, and my spirit is still with you and always will be...."
Look for that post, it wasn't that long ago and it is a long thread with many posts talking about this very subject!
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Swanie a couple weeks ago, and yes I do believe in signs. Swanie sent me an unusual one, I guess, but I might not have noticed or believed anything else. He had tummy issues and his poop had a very distinctive "aroma." And he didn't cover. So a couple nights ago, middle of the night, I was awake and I smelled it! I said what the heck?! Got up and checked the litter box, nothing, and Cricket doesn't smell like that anyway, that was distinctly Swanie. Cindy sent us a sign when she passed, and so did Darcy. So yes, I absolutely believe your kitty sent you a sign.
You know, that's what i was googling for, has anyone had signs?
I will say this - last night, I awoke suddenly at like 3 am - I could have sworn I heard the sound of her paws jumping on my bed :-) she was a big girl so when she was alive, the sound was always fun and thrilling since i loved when she joined me...
but then again, i had just read a few hours earlier that one of the signs is that you may 'hear things' so i dont know if it was just a dream.
the day after she was gone, i felt like i could 'feel her with me' strongly, but like...stronger than her energy. i have felt this way about family members who have died, the next 2 days after they died, i felt them around but strong strong energy, like them amplified. i felt like they were adjusting to the transition. i felt that way about coco the two days after she died, today, not so much. also today i happen to be doing better and not obsessively thinking about her 24/7. during those two days, feeling her energy so strongly reminded me of how i felt th same after human family died - i forgot about that energetic feeling.
but i am aware it could be all in my head. i guess there is no way of knowing for sure but i love hearing of people getting signs.....sometimes they just seem like the reticular activating system :-)...who am i to say the afterlife doesn't exist? i sure hope it does. it is certainly possible :) and those intense feelings, a feeling of a presence there for 2 days, is unmistakable to me, but i can't say for sure what it is. i hope your baby visits you and gives you an unmistakable sign, if that's what you want! xx
So I found another white feather. This time on my doormat. My upstairs neighbor is moving out and there's movers moving her stuff so I found a little bit of tape and some fuzz, but also a white feather. Granted, there's an explanation but it's also weird that a single white feather is on my doormat at this exact time.
There are too many things that happen in this world that absolutely cannot be explained. Miracles and signs from our loved ones are two of them.......
Some are too subtle for us to ever pick up on, some as dramatic as the one my Chrissy gave us on the night of her death, which I have related many times on this site, because it was a true sign. I have never been through such a traumatic death, and hopefully never will again. To have a loved one killed within feet of you and to be powerless to stop it, is a special hell I hope no one else has to suffer through. But on that night, in shock and disbelief, with tears streaming down our faces and knowing the world would never be the same again, my husband looked to the cold December sky and screamed, "Please Chrissy, if you hear us, PLEASE send us a sign you made it to heaven!" at that exact moment a shooting star shot sideways across the sky, in winter, in a way I know Chrissy could have sent. She was ALWAYS such a dramatic little diva! At that moment, I wish I could hang on to that feeling, of wonderment, of relief, of knowing for certain our prayers had been answered. I have never felt that way before. But of course 6 years dulls the memory, makes us doubt, but never enough to know it wasn't a sign sent just for us.......
I was one of the people who wrote on the first Signs of Afterlife thread. So I'll share my story again.
By the way, I saw a white feather about an hour ago when I was outside!
My sweet baby, Beamer, died on January 11th of this year. When I was sitting in my bedroom with Windy (my 5 yr old kitty girl) on the night he died, I distinctly heard his meow from the living room/kitchen area. I thought that was a sign from him letting me know that he was alright!
Also, when my Missy passed away in 2013, I felt her jump on my bed for a few nights after she had gone. Same thing with Beamer, I felt a jump on the bed and settling after he passed as well.
I'm taking them as signs that they wanted me to know that they were still near by. Although I don't feel the jumping anymore, I know they're somewhere close by which gives me great peace of mind.
another possible sign: I kept on picturing my cat with my dad who passed years ago. I did not like my dad very much, and we grew up with dogs, not cats. There are many other people in my family who have died, but I kept on picturing Coco with my dad, oddly. I spoke with my mom and she was when I was in college (away), my mom got 2 cats, and my dad fell in love with them, so it turns out he loved cats. So I thought that was a very cool thing to learn - perhaps Coco is with my dad. Makes me like the thought of him more too :-)
This thread brings me to tears. I lost my baby Indy, she was a beautiful calico kitty. On the way home from euthanizing her, I was silent, my eyes were filled to the brim with tears. To make the mood worse, it was pouring. I was nearing home and a brilliant pure white feather fell on my windshield and got stuck in the windshield wipers. It made me smile, despite the tears. The same night, I head her meows. She had a weird meow, it was adorable, she had vocal chord problem so when she meowed it sounded like little squeaks. The next morning I walked outside to get the mail and there was another white feather laying near the door. So I do believe in signs, our kitties and lost loved ones send us signs to let them know they are okay. After all, one day we will meet them again. I can't wait to see Indy again. I miss her dearly.
This brought me to tears as well :( But I'm glad we both got a sign of hope.
How come I never came across a feather? I have gotten signs but no feather or coin. Sometimes on my Google feed I see the title of an olf game with my cats name Melody. My favorite game when I was thinking if Melody met Stormy then after that had an urge to see new outfit that is called Stormy Melody! But yet no feather . Maybe because she think these signs are better
In my opinion those signs are part of a person beliefs (Weltaschuumg), not limited to Cats.
===
Once upon a time , the Wise Man got a cat and the cat sits with Him on the books, and the cat did everything a cat does, waving tale, purring and miewing,
In a sad morning, the Wise Man found the cat beneath the desk and the cat was not breathing anymore and not waving tale and not miewing.
The Wise Man said to himself: "Can I remember the Cat? Can I still dream the Cat?" and could not answer to Himself, for nobody can look to himself through his own eyes.
So He went on the Water shore and spoke to the Water: "Where is my Cat? Why can still I remember the Cat? Where is she?"
And the Water answered: "The Cat did not leave You and She will never do! You shall think: everything is part of everything and part of the Whole, so you will see the signs whenever your Mind will want!"
