Hello.

:wave3:

We have another typhoon going through here this weekend. Number 25! Seriously, do we have to have one every weekend?

What was your favourite subject when you were at school? What was your least favourite?

I really liked English and all the Art subjects, especially pottery. I liked having the chance to be creative. I think I would have enjoyed woodwork too, but the woodwork teacher was a grumpy old man so no one liked his lessons.

My least favourite was maths. Not because of the teachers, I had some nice maths teachers but my brain doesn't do numbers. Must have been quite frustrating for my teachers, trying to explain maths to me and being met with a blank stare. I guess that's why they left me alone to doodle in my note book.

What were your most and least favourite subjects?

I wasn't really fond of school, but English was my favorite subject. My least favorites were gym and math equally.

Favourite subjects were probably music, English and Latin.

I don't think I had any subjects I full on hated. I wasn't keen on geography, maybe, and maths/sciences. I could do them ok - they just didn't interest me much. I wasnt mad on the team sports in secondary school (netball, hockey, rounders), but was fine with other types of P.E.

Oh, once I got to secondary school, I HATED art! Art at primary school had been fantastic - lots of different crafts and mediums to play with - we did batik, tie dye, pottery, papier mache (though I did hate the feel of the wallpaper paste :cringe:), plaster and wire sculptures, printing by etching designs into polystyrene tiles, weaving yarn on a card basket frame, decorated t-shirts (and other stuff) with fabric paint, made stained glass type pieces with layers of tissue paper and PVA glue, and probably more! Art at secondary school was a rude, sharp awakening into the world of drawing and painting - neither of which I'm any good at (you know your drawing is bad when it's rejected by a 5-6yr old :paperbag:). I loved crafting (and still do), but not anything going towards 'fine art' techniques.

My favorite subjects were a toss up between English, Art and Foreign Language.
My least favorite was without a doubt, Math.

Favourites:

- History
- Biology and Earth Sciences
- Drama
- Gym (Unless we were doing basketball, baseball and American football. Hated those sports!)
- Media Studies

Least:
Math
Chemistry

English can be such a coin toss, depending on the teacher. Sometimes it can be a favourite, sometimes not.

Favorites were English, Spanish, Home Ec, Typing, and the Early Childhood Education course that I took. Least favorite was definitely Art.

We only got 10 weeks each of Typing & Home Ec, wish it could have been longer.

I loved English and Biology. I took the Business curriculum, so had to take Shorthand and Typing. I hated Shorthand with a passion.

I had to take Home Ec and despised that subject. Cooking? Sewing? Oh, I don't think so! I love to cook now, but don't have the patience for sewing anything; I even hate sewing buttons on a shirt or re-doing a hem.

In college, I took one Chemistry class and hated it, largely because the prof was such a witch. In fact, she was so horrid that the students put up a petition to try to get her removed. I got a B in the course, my only blasted B during my college years. I was really peeved.

My favorites were my electives. Photography and auto mechanics. I also liked English.
My hated classes were math and Spanish. I can understand it and read it (mostly), I just can't wrap my head around the noun before the verb thing to form a sentence.

I loved home ec but not the sewing part. I was terrible at it. I liked the cooking part though. Least favorite subjects? That would be a toss up between gym class and math. I hated them both with a passion.

Speaking of sewing, years ago DH found some fabric when we were out shopping one day and he wanted pillowcases made out of it. We got the fabric and he found this thing called the Handy Stitch. It was a handheld sewing machine. One of those "as seen on TV" things. I'm sure you've guessed already but that thing was just awful. It was like 3 stitches in, 2 out. He was determined to make it work though. I gave up and did one by hand. Would you like to guess who got done first? The worst part of that was the fact that my sewing skills never did improve over the years. I did get it done but that thing was a hot mess.

That thing went back to the store less than 24 hours later. MIL made the other ones with her regular sewing machine. After looking at hers and then at mine, it went in the trash. :fear::paperbag:
Now back to your regular scheduled programming. :fallsmiley:

Same here, I liked the cooking part of Home Ec, not the sewing part. I also hated Swimming class. I loved that I learned to swim & dive, but my teacher was so mean! He would make us put our arms so far back with the kickboard that I felt they were going to break off, and if you didn't put them far enough back, he would come over and push them back. And if you did one thing wrong in the water, he would grab you with this big hook on a pole, I don't even know what that thing was. :headshake:

I loved math with the exception of trig and statistics. Gym class was fun.

I did not like handwriting class. Endlessly making looping K's, O's and R's. And all the rest of the letters.

Favorite classes -
Art
Sewing
French

Least favorite -
Math. Today I think Math would be one of my favorite subjects, but I fell so far behind all through high school, that it was not enjoyable. After taking Basic Math in College and using Math skills in the workplace all these years, I often think that Math would now be one of my favorites subjects.

Physical Education - I was always athletic on my own, outside of school, but the way that teams were picked by teacher-designated 'team captains', well, I was always the last to be picked for any sport, as I was nervous in the team sports and not one of the popular students. In my opinion, it was an awful way to designate teams week after week, knowing I would always be the leftover. I can hardly believe this even went on, and would almost melt into the floor with shame to be left as last each week. However, it made me a very tough and independent person, this disappointment in gym class, and was probably the best thing to ever happen to me!
