What is Parkour?
It's how teenagers apply for their Darwin Awards.

;)

Have a look at some Parkour videos on YouTube. Young boys trying to jump from the tops of buildings onto walls as if they were kittens.

That's a great update Jcatbird Jcatbird It must be so gratifying to see one of your rescues in a new home. Wonderful news about all the kittens and their mothers being safe indoors now. Just one tom cat to go!.

:thud:

I'm astounded by all that you've accomplished.

Getting a post through is slow right now but I have a signal so I will attempt it.
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine I am afraid I did not catch BJ. I set the trap but someone else beat him to the food. I caught a buzzard. It barely fit into the trap and was quite upset at being trapped. While I worked to release it the bird hissed at me. Lol Maybe it ate too much cat food. ;) I finally got it out of the trap. I was glad it was uninjured. It immediately flew away. BJ had witnessed the whole thing. I reset the trap with little hope of him entering it. I came back after a short time to discover he had eaten the food without stepping on the trip plate. Smart kitty! I missed him twice today. The carrier trick did not work with him either. Tomorrow I will try both types of trap and the carrier. ( He is such a large cat he will have trouble getting in the other trap but I will still attempt it.) I think I may have to earn his trust first. I have not been close to this kitty very often. He is always in the hunt for a lady kitty. I will be patient and offer tuna tomorrow.
Norachan Norachan Thank you. I am so glad Sadie returned. We know the worry of having a misplaced kitty. I hope she has calmed and is snuggling back down.
M maggiedemi You are so kind. I think the kitties just decided it was better to come with me than to face a storm. I am just grateful they sensed I could help them. Any shelter in a storm. It was great news about my little Cloud.
@white shadow It is happening fast! We struggle so long to keep them safe and just when we feel we may not be able to save one, they come walking right in! Catching Kelly was a little frightening. The dreaded hawk was on a branch just above her and I knew that if my timing was off she might run out where the hawk could get her. I used a trap for her. A rare thing for me to use. I had to pull a string to shut the door on this one. Kelly was not all the way in so it was a judgement call. Would she go in or pull out? I thought the hawk was positioning itself to dive down onto Kelly. At that point she needed to run. I yanked the cord hard. The door hit her in the rear and she went forward into the trap. The hawk sailed down from his perch but pulled up and flew straight out. I ran out and the hawk kept going. Kelly was frantic in the trap. She was banging against the sides. I quickly covered it and brought her straight inside. She cried and struggled until I put the trap down where she could see her babies. Her Ginger baby ran over to the trap and laid beside her. When she laid down beside him I opened the trap and he ran in and laid beside her. I left them like that for awhile. When I came back into the room Kelly had come out and she was surrounded by her Gingerbread babies. It was a very moving thing to see.
dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 I am glad you liked the reunion of Mom and babies. It has been a wonderful thing to experience. They were obviously very happy to find each other again. A comfort to us all. rubysmama rubysmama The Gingerbread kittens did seem to belong in their little house didn’t they? I loved seeing little Bright , always, answering the door. That mage me smile every time I saw it. Now I am smiling at the comfort she gets from snuggling up to her Mom. She looks very content now. I wish I could just keep them all together forever. Build them a little Gingerbread house within my house. That would be the perfect end to their story. Mane someone will take them together. I think they will be leaving to go to foster with my friend very soon though. Probably as soon as the storm has passed. After that they will go up for adoption and find homes somewhere. That is the hardest part for me. All the kitties are special but we worry about some more than others. I won’t ever stop wondering where they are.
@Mamanyt1953 we are all so glad you are safe with Hekitty. Grateful to your hosts as well.
Flowers is adjusting slowly. I don’t have a slace to put her in alone with the babies. They are in a large covered cage right now. She growls at everything that comes near he kittens but she let me pet her for the first time! I was surprised and pleased. The wild lady liked being scratched at the side of her chin. There is hope for this feral girl.
Here are the new pictures of Flowers and babies as they learn to play and accept a human hand.

No luck with BJ yet. He eats in the trap but deftly avoids stepping on the trip plate. He will not enter the smaller trap or a carrier. If I make the slightest twig crack upon approach, he dashes off. :runningcat:I may have to revert to my old ways of making friends. That will take time. :(

A 'cattin around' tom cat. He needs to move on. :( He's working against what you're trying to do. Let him deal with the hawk. Sadly, can't save them all.

Maybe I can’t save him. You gotta know that I am going to try. Lol He has a face that would melt your heart. You know how hard it is to turn away from one that is put in front of you. He is a smart one. I have faith that if I am meant to get him, I will. Paws crossed! After all I have his children here. What would they think if I abandoned their Dad? Don’t want him out there making more either. Another colony could start. Ouch!

"looks can be one's downfall". Satan was God's most beautiful angel, once. And tom cats care little, if anything about their offspring. Such caring is not in their nature. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgment. :)
Not another colony - that's what the hawk is for. :) Everything serves it's time and place, huh. Eccl. 3:1-11

Jcatbird Jcatbird - No doubt you'll get him. Un-neutered, his natural instinct is to perpetuate the species. To give up on any animal goes against the grain.

Maybe it's time for the Acme Cat Trap - my old wood-and-fencing drop trap:

acme.jpg

Just a plywood base with the drop trap hinged to it at the back - lifted one inch off the baseboard, with one inch rubber "bumpers" at the top corners, so that pinching the tail is impossible. Yank the nylon cord once a cat's inside eating, and it never fails. You can be a hundred feet away if you like, and catch 'em at your leisure.

"it's not my fault", where have I heard that excuse before. :)

Excellent Acme trap idea. I'll share it with others who need to trap animals humanely.

This is large enough cat to give that hawk you dislike a run for his money. I do not want vet bills. It is easier for all if I catch the cat. I have been asking around for a drop trap but no one has one. I am going to have to make one or make friends. Whichever comes first. If he doesn’t go in search of a female. I will continue to try and catch him. How can I give up on the last soldier in action? His looks have nothing to do with my attempts but I know you would find him a sweet and gentle cat. It is all about saving the life , preventing injury and stopping population growth. One male can produce hundreds in his lifetime. Can’t have that continuing. I know you support that. He might bring his girlfriends here to hang out.

That's amazing that you're down to just the one feral cat now. Great job! You really are the cat whisperer. :petcat:

Hopefully BJ will realize staying out there is pointless, with all his family inside now, and will willing let himself be trapped. How old do you think he is?

I am not sure. Maybe 2 or 3 years. Just guessing. I am also guessing he is the only cat left. Lol Others could be hidden away. Time will tell. I still have my work cut out for me with the rescues inside. Bringing in so many in case of the storm was not my original plan. It seems the storm is turning away. I am most grateful for that.

I still send hopes and prayers to all those still dealing with the storm and who will face the aftermath.

What the heck? Demi was a Tom cat at one point. He's a perfect sweet little angel now. I would be crushed if a hawk got him before he came inside. :headscratch:
