Hi everybody :wave3:

I curious what you guys call different things. Depending on which country you are from & then which region we all have different names for the same thing. ;)

So, what do you call these things ?

1 The last slice in a loaf of bread
2 The thing you use to switch TV channel
3 Melted cheese on top of toasted bread
4 The place you put shopping at the rear of the car
5 What do you call a carbonated beverage ?

These are my answers -
1 - The crust
2- Remote control
3- Cheese on toast
4- Boot
5- Pop

  1. Crust
  2. Remote
  3. Cheese on toast, unless you mean the cheese is between two pieces of bread, and then it’s grilled cheese.
  4. Trunk for a regular sedan. I have an SUV, though, and just call it “the back.”
  5. Soda or soft drink

Heel. Crust is the edges you cut off your sandwich

2 The thing you use to switch TV channel
In our family we say clicker but we'll say remote control when talking to anyone else

3 Melted cheese on top of toasted bread
There's a name for that? Idk, cheesy toast? Open-faced grilled cheese? I don't think I've ever eaten melted cheese on toast so I don't really have a frame of reference

4 The place you put shopping at the rear of the car
Trunk (but I have a minivan so yeah, just "the back")

5 What do you call a carbonated beverage ?
My family says soda but most locals say pop. My mom grew up calling all sodas Coke. "I'd like an orange Coke please"!

3 Melted cheese on top of toasted bread - Cheese Bread? Honestly, just one piece of bread with cheese isn't normal around here. Some pizza places do it as a variation on garlic bread.
4 The place you put shopping at the rear of the car - Trunk
5 What do you call a carbonated beverage ? - Soda.

The last one I just call carbonated drink. I used to call it soda but now they make carbonated water so soda doesn't fit anymore.

But I do find it odd that most countries don't put ice in their drinks.

We call it frontage roads

We don't go either uptown or downtown, we just go to town. (the main road is only 7 miles long, and that is two towns together)

5. I have called it soda for many years now. I grew up in Kansas and we called it pop there. I left Kansas when I was 20 and every place since then it has been soda so that is what I am used to now.
