Hi everyone! I'm so upset! I know Comet is pregnant by now! She got outside & now I can't get her to come to me. She was always the timid one but now since she got out she runs away from me. I seen her outside right at dusk yesterday so I got a can of tuna to call for her. She used to run to me at that sound. Now she runs away :( any ideas on how I can get her back inside & not have feral kittens? Trap her somehow?
TIA!:)

Hmmmm... is she is a fenced yard? Does she wander far? Is she spayed? I would try enticing her with food. Once she gets hungry she will probably come to you if you have her favorite dish.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get her spayed yet so I'm betting she is pregnant now  and i live out in a wooded area. I may have to resort in trapping her somehow. Every time she hears me open the door she runs off. Shes such a sweet kitty too. I'm really upset she got out :(

I would get a humane trap, that would probably be your best bet. Either buy one or you can normally rent them from the town or city animal control where you live. Some shelters also will rent out traps.

Well once you do get her, if she’s not pregnant, spay her immediately! And another thing I would do is invest in a outdoor cat tent. You can find them online amazon, chewy, and many more stores. That way your cat can be outside safely:)

I definitely will get her spayed immediately but I can almost guarantee we'll be having kittens! lol which will be fine with us. We love caring for momma & babies :) this was a big oops but we'll get thru it! :) awe a kitty tent? I will look into that! They wont try to claw their way out of it?

Cats love the strong smell of fried chicken if canned does not work in the trap. Also do not walk up to her. Get on your hands and knees

No, what I find about cats is that it is more of being outside and smelling fresh air than actually walking around. And the cat tents can get pretty big which what my cat loves! Mine is like just over 6ft by I think 6ft. Plenty of space for my cat and me to both relax outside. The have never tried to get out.

If you catch a wild animal in the live trap, just take it out to a suitable location, unlock the door, tip it over, and run! Lol. That's what I did when I caught a raccoon. But he ran just as fast in the other direction so I didn't have to run :D. Raccoons can be aggressive, though, so I wanted to be careful. I also caught a possum, but possums are fairly passive so I just opened the door and let him leave whenever he wanted.

If you catch the tomcat, if possible, it would be great if you could have him neutered and vaccinated. Having vaccinated cats around your property makes good barrier against rabies.

Yup, fried chicken or rotisserie chicken are usually preferred for trapping. You'd think cats would prefer fish, and canned mackerel does work sometimes, but chicken just seems to work better.

I don't think I'd try a cat tent for a cat who is prone to going wild, but you can build something out of 2 x 4s and welded fencing that would be sturdier and probably cheaper. Only after she's spayed, of course!

Lol this big fat coon is not afraid of me much! Lol I'll sometimes catch him in day time when i go to bring the kitty food in & I'll make loud noises & all that & it'll just sit there & stare at me like....:doh2:lol then it'll run away...slowly! Lol. Yeah with a Comet I don't wanna let her outside anymore after I catch her. Velvet likes to go out/in & is super friendly.

A humane trap and fried chicken is probably your best bet! And if she comes home pregnant, we have an excellent article available on how to find the best homes for kittens (screeing and such).

Aren't they, though? And despite their bad rep, they rarely get rabies, which you can't say for raccoons. We have lots of both, as I live on the woods-bounded edge of a tiny town.

My cat loves going on walked... it’s a good way to get her outside without her being endangered. I you want to train your cat to walk I would recommend Pupteck cat harness.. all the others I’ve tried have been so escape able! Such as the common T-harness you can find for super cheap at any store and the Voyager harnesses..

Omgosh thats so cute!:D I just seen Comet outside coming up to the porch for food but I very quietly went to approach her she heard me then darted off :rolleyes3: I'm gonna buy a humane cat trap. Thats the only way to catch her. I know shes probably pregnant by now so I gotta catch her before she has her kittens. Then those girls r getting spayed & UTD on shots!
