Although human food is not great for pets they still get some here and there. My big dog loves candy and chips. My little dog loves anything edible or not. My old kitty loves lettuce and any other veggies she can have (she'll eat them before any meat even tuna) they say cats can't taste sweets but idk about that anything sweet and she's all over it. The young one is still into trying anything anyone eats. When we got him he had no manners and would jump into your plate of you weren't paying attention.

Well I don't let her eat human food but she does seem to love the smell of cheese and for some odd reason if I have Root Beer she wants to stick her face in my cup and I quickly have to pull it away. I never heard of a cat liking the smell of Root Beer.

When I first got my cat, if I ate anything chocolate, she'd come running and wanted some. Good thing I had read it is poisonous to cats and dogs. The weird thing that she likes is a particular lotion I have. The smell is nice and, I guess, maybe sort of like a dessert. If I put it on my legs, my cat will come over and lick my legs. It scares me because it makes me think she might want to take a bite.

That isn't why I'd be scared; I'd be scared that something in the lotion might be bad for her.

Jasmine is very fond of pistachios, and only gets them when I accidentally drop one.

Very good point. I hide my legs under the comforter if I use that lotion, so she hasn't gotten more than a few little, gentle licks in.

I actually ate some pistachios yesterday and let her smell them. She wasn't interested. I just wanted to show her a new smell.

My old cat liked to eat the sundried tomatoes from pizza. Peaches loves Cheetos, chips,popcorn,.bread,cheese. Coco tears apart toilet paper and kleenex. Maggie is well behaved. I can leave my food out right next to her and she wont eat it!

In general, we don't give our cats any table scrap or human food. They don't beg at the table because it never works. They do get some chicken and small bits of red meat as supplement.

None of this applies when I take Makena (our bengal) out with me for the day: he will get some of whatever I have for lunch. I frequently have lunch with the aircraft mechanics at a local airport. Makena usually scores an extra bite or two of chicken, bologna, a meatball or maybe a scoop of tunafish from anyone with a soft spot for a hungry bengal.

When out hiking, Makena will reach into holes in the ground or in trees and fish out all sorts of nasty bugs to snack on. Lately Makena has been chomping down spiders. I look the other way and try not to get sick when I hear the "crunch."

Here he is looking for bugs in the roots of a downed tree

Makena also loves grasshoppers. In late summer I can take him out in our field and he will do all sorts of acrobatics catching them. He eats his fill and then skips dinner. He will also try to snag minnows from a nearby creek, he is seldom successful, but he slurps them down whole when he gets them.

I eat a low carb diet too, but I am a little more picky about where I get my proteins than Makena is....

Nothing odd really. They both get plain cooked meat sometimes. Lily likes scrambled eggs but that's about as strange as it gets. They don't get an opportunity to try anything else.

Sam is uninterested in human food except pineapple yogurt. He always comes running when I eat it. He gets very disappointed if it is any flavor other than pineapple. I thought cats had an aversion to citrus?

Over Thanksgiving, I found out Gizmo went crazy over canned green beans. He also enjoys a few licks of plain hummus whenever I have some.

Yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs (they love the yolks), goats milk, cows milk and cream (in moderation), and a few of them love cucumber, melons, parsley and dandelion greens.
Whenever we skim cream from the milk they know the sound of the spoon tinking against the jar. It's a regular stampede.

I have a potato chip monster too. I thought it was because Farrell had access to lots of junk food, being born in a feral colony located behind a convenience store. From all the responses, it appears that many cats like chips. :) I only buy 2-3 bags a year as a guilty junk-food pleasure, and she only get a chip of a chip, but she sure would dive into a bag and do some serious munchie damage I'm sure.

Decades ago, I was gifted a Blue Persian. He loved any human food, especially pickles. An unguarded glass of scotch on the rocks was also not safe from that cat.

Ok orange&white orange&white , I think you won with Scotch and pickles! That’s crazy.

Gohan always smells everything, and that includes drinks. He never messes with beer so we don’t watch him with it or worry about keeping it out of reach. One day, though, he had a sniff of a nice IPA (with a little malt) and we heard the telltale “lap-lap-lap” of a happy kitty tongue. We acted quickly but we were so shocked he tried it! He’s back on the wagon now, hasn’t had a drink since. :drinking:
