Hello everyone,
So tonight we noticed an internal lump on my male cats side. His left side in front of his back leg. Its pretty large, about the size of a ping pong ball, and im confident it wasnt there this morning. Hes acting normal (eating, drinking, bathroom) but he will meow or grumble when he lays down or if you touch his side. Ive looked for any kind of cuts or scratches but havent found any.
Its internal and grew rapidly, I cant figure out what it is. If it doesnt look better in the morning we will go to the vet, but im wondering if anyone has experienced this before?

I would take him to the vet to aspirate it. Biopsy if the vet thinks its necessary.

I would agree a vet visit is in order. You will want to find out what it is, and treat it now, so it does not get worse.
Do let us know what you find out. :heartshape:

I would very much recommend the vet visit. Pretty boy, you will want to get him in soon, if its still growing it could get bad, quickly.
Do keep us updated. Sending hopes that it is noting serious!:crossfingers:

That lump is bigger than a ping pong ball. It could be a lot of things so testing will be needed to diagnose the problem. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Abscess? Cyst? Hernia? Cellulitis? He needs an exam and maybe some blood work. If fluid-filled, possibly an aspiration. Good luck and let us know what happens. Sending good vibes to your kitty.

Yep. This.

OP, go to emergency vet care if your normal vet can't get you in quickly. Anything that swells this quickly needs immediate attention, if only to alleviate the pain and pressure.

OP has not been back since 2018, so I don't think you will receive a reply.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I googled but it’s really hard to tell. I’ve been calling vets all day and reading reviews to see what’s the best cheapest option. I would get an X-ray or ultrasound done. If not at least voice your concerns to the vet for sure.

He is neutered and his stomach does hang on one side I’m scared
I just got him neutered a month or two ago. He’s 6 months. I really don’t know if that was the best thing but everyone said it was.
Have you made an appointment for Sylvester yet?

Lumps can often be quickly diagnosed by a vet and, no, they are not all cancer. Many lumps are benign. Criteria for determining is often how hard, soft, solid or filled with a fluid, moveable, unmovable, location, size, etc. The problem for those of us who are not vets is that no matter how much you google "what is this lump", we will not be able to figure it out. And remember that all reliable sources, and even unreliable ones, on the internet are going to run the gamut of suggestions from bug bite to cancer. They are protected from liability by letting you know that it could be bad.

A 6 month old cat should be health, theoretically. Neutering a cat at 4/5 months is absolutely fine and is what many vets do.

The best thing to do about a lump is to see the vet. Most will give you some logical assumptions based on their expertise and then you can formulate a plan from there.

She doesn’t want to because it cost too much

What area do you live in? Don’t go to a vet. Go to a spay/neuter place. They usually run about $60 and they really took care of my baby boy, make sure u check out the reviews so you know what places to avoid.
But appointment, I meant just for a check up since you were worried about him. Simba’s doing better but I’m still keeping his appointment at the end of this month just to be on the safe side.
