I had asked about 4 people to borrow a trap including my boyfriend's mother. Everyone said they'd lend it to me .This was a month ago. Artie and Jaspurs feral momma gave birth yesterday I did not catch her in time :( i have people keeping an eye out for where she goes. I think she had them in the garden center if where I work. So once I find them ill keep an eye on her and the litter. I'm now going to buy my own trap sense no one really understands how serious I take this. Then fix everyone and adopt out babies and maybe momma nephertiti

Sorry no one took you seriously. But thank you for your concern about mama, and now her kittens.

I recently saw a tip advising that if you see the mama cat, and play kitten meowing sounds on your cell phone, it should result in the mama leading you to her kittens.

If you can get the kittens in the trap, mama will probably be easier to catch. And if you trap the kittens while still young, they will be much easier to tame and socialize for adoption.

Good luck.

I've gotten pretty good at socializing kittens we even socialized a tux who never been around people he was nuts and attacked my boyfriend lol. Now hes a big snuggle big and even leans his head against your neck when you pick him up. He loves love. I'm excited to get momma and babies I have another momma to be cat who's litter should be here by the end of the week. I will definitely try the kitty meows when i see Nephertiti!

One of mine I was just about to trap, shows signs of having given birth lately. She's not even full grown. I feel terrible, she's in an area where there is no way to find the nest. Any way, I sympathize.

The area I live in is very low income with a high homeless rate and they all try to keep animals! dogs and cats everywhere!! I am trying so hard to home these animals and get them fixed! But with kitten season I'm trying to wait a few weeks maybe next month just to make sure no babies get orphaned.

I live in a very poor area too. People get mad at me for fixing the cats and finding them homes. They are just ignorant. Thank you for helping. There is way to many, to help them all, but we can save one at a time. And that matters.
I love this site because I know there's people like me out their who really love these animals :D Who just want them safe!

So glad that you will be looking out for Nefertiti and her babies - it would be such a blessing to get them all neutered and adopted into responsible, loving homes.
Please keep us updated!

I found the little cats nest. The kittens are tiny. They are between two fences back to back, one is a wire link and the other is wood. I'm trying to plot how to get them.
Let me know when you catch the babies and momma :)

I will, I'm trying to find someone who has a tool I can use to cut the fence.

If its not a super thick link fence you can probably use bolt cutters from Walmart for like 15 bucks :D

If it’s just fence wire a little bigger than a pencil lead...? Maybe just a pair of wire cutters would do.

So what’s your plan for momma and kittens? Can you pick her up?

It is too thick for wire cutters, I believe I do need to get to Walmart and get some bolt cutters. My rescue friend has a foster lined up to take the kittens when they are five weeks, I'll keep the feral mom and babies until then. I have seen three. They look to be about two weeks old. I'm trying to figure out how many there are so I make sure I get them all. I'm very nervous about this rescue.

Look at the wire fence.
Chain link fences are often attached to the poles with thick, but fairly soft, wire. You may be able to cut enough of these "holding" wires that you don't need to cut the fencing. That wire might be soft enough to be cut with a regular wire cutter. You would need to decide if cutting the fence loose gives you enough slack to get the kittens out.
The squirrels in our backyard chewed through all the top wires holding the (old) fence to the top poles. They did not get the wires on the vertical posts, so the fence still has a shape.
Check and see if you can rent a bolt cutter instead of buying one. There are some community programs that promote borrowing tools. You can also check at Home Depot or Lowes about tool rental programs.
Check apps Letgo and Offer-up or Craigslist to see if someone is selling a bolt cutter. Look to see if anyone is advertising fence services to get some help

Thanks for the tip about the smaller wire. I will check that. I will try and do as little damage to the fence as possible. I don't have a car, so my rescue friend is shopping for bolt cutters for me. So I probably will be able to try to catch them Friday morning. I am very worried about being able to find the kittens, there are trees and brush in between the fences. So I could easily miss them. And I am not sure about the number of them. I suppose if I can't find them after awhile they will get hungry and start crying which could help me locate them. The mother may be hard to catch too, since she doesn't come out to eat until she is alone. I usually feed in the evening, but if it take me awhile to trap her it will be dark and hard to find the babies in the dark. It's also in a back alley area drug people hang out at. So I appreciate all the good vibes you are sending.
