How Many Ounces Of Wet Cat Food Does Your Cat Eat Per Day?

My cat (Lucy) weighs around 6000 grams (13 pounds) and her weight is stable. I feed her wet, canned food in small amounts, frequently through the day. I also provide her with a bit of dry kibble when I leave in the morning to go to work, and when I get up during the night for a bathroom break ("Hey you, now that you're up, you might as well feed me...please!!").

Daily amounts:
Wet food = ~100 grams (3.5 oz)
Dry food = ~15 - 20 grams (0.5 - 0.7 oz)

On days when I am home all day, she may receive a bit more wet than 100 grams, but no more than 120 (4.2 oz), but she only receives kibble at night.

I'm not sure how much the dry food weighs because I use measuring cups, I don't weigh it.

I actually had to change up the feeding schedule and amounts since my last post since both cats decided to tell me they were absolutely staaaarving with the nice system I thought I had implemented. So now, as per the notes I'm keeping on these weirdos and their diet, Gizmo gets 6oz of homemade raw plus a 3oz can for a total of 9oz a day while Stevie now gets a total of 7oz of canned food, no more dry. Will they decide to make me change this all again next week? Probably.

Oh, I'm the same way. I keep experimenting on the amounts. But I'll never go under 3/4 of a 5.5oz can again. I may go back up to 1 full 5.5oz can for each cat, I haven't decided yet. I'm still experimenting. Plus some dry food of course, I don't just give 3/4 can with nothing else.

I don't feed my cats individually, too many! They eat an average of 5-6 ounces of canned pate Friskies each. Occasionally I toss a handful of kibble to them, like feeding the koi in a pond, lol. I'm sure the big guys eat more than the little girls but that's the average.

I have an elderly cat who eats 1 5.5-oz can of Friskies AND 1 3-oz can of Fancy Feast per day. But she only eats the shreds/bits and those are lower in calories than the pate.

My small young girls, 8 and 9 pounds, eat between 3.9 and 4.2 ounces each per day.

My senior kitty, 13 pounds, eats 4.8 to 5.1 ounces per day...or he gets really fat in a hurry!

Not sure that tells you much though. Foods vary dramatically in calories per ounce, and in how bioavailable the ingredients are.

9-12 ozs of wet sounds insane for an 11 lb cat. My 8 lb female gets about 3.3 - 4 ozs of wet, sometimes more depending on the calories in the food, and 1/8 cup dry a day.

I'm not sure there is any equivalent between raw and canned, or even between two brands of canned food.

I've been making the cats' mix at 40-42 kcals/ounce and minimum 50% protein, so a better comparison would be based on calories and adjusted for any non-animal ingredients in canned food for digestibility/bioavailabilty.

The easier answer is that the girls are each eating around 160 kcals per day and my senior is eating around 200 kcals per day.

I lose track.
We feed a wide rotation of foods daily and each seem to have different amounts in them. Some cans are a full 6 ounces. Some, 5.5. Small cans 2.5 or 3. I split each opened can between them. I think each are eating around 7-8 ounces daily, more or less depending on appetite. Our older one has kidney disease and his appetite waxes and wanes so he's fed on demand now. I try to give the younger one a bit less of each can since she's gotten a bit too chubby.
They only eat wet food. A typical day is 4 meals - breakfast is 3 ounces each. Late morning maybe plus or minus 1-1/2 ounces Dinner 3 ounces and late night snack of again around 1-1/2 ounces each. I know that adds up to 9 each but they both tend not to clean their bowls completely so I figured deducting an ounce or so for each comes out to the 7-8.

My boy eats around 12 ounces +- wet food each day. That’s about 4.5 +- cans of 3oz cans.

I’m so glad you just said that! Even though the vet says it’s normal for four months old, I’m reading what everyone is feeding and feeling completely crazy for feeding as much as you do- but it’s so good to see I’m not alone!!

My boy is already two years three months old. I still let him eat as much as he wants and he doesn’t over eat. He’s not fat and I like him a little pudgy, nice to hug!

The vet just told me “She’s just like a person with a high metabolism, she ca eat whatever she wants!” And my sons friend just remarked how much she ate and “she’s soooo skinny!” Lol, I guess she fits right in with my family, my skinny dad and 6’6 brother eat MORE just the two of them then my exes entire family, lol! I guess she fits right in, I should’ve expected the grocery bill lol!

I've recently been hyper-aware about what amount my cats eat, due to one of my boys having post-surgery anorexia and a feeding tube, and he is now eating again but I am monitoring his intake like a hawk.

I barely have room in my existence right now to thing about anything else besides his food intake!

A lot of it is dependent on factors such as your cat's activity levels and the food quality.

My Radar is having an ok day right now if he eats 200g (7oz) wet food, and a great day if he eats a bit more than that (say, around 8oz? - sorry, struggling a bit with Imperial measurements). He is currently around 3.2kg (a bit over 6.5lbs I think?) so the 8oz is great for weight gain, which he needs (target weight 3.6 to 3.8kg). But 7oz is ok for no weight loss.
