I've posted here before when my baby was still little, but now that she's turning 2 and (I think) fully grown, I wanted to ask again if she might have some Maine Coon! She definitely acts like one in terms of friendliness and noise making, but here's some pictures!

Little bit of background, I got her when she was 3 months old. She had followed someone who was out on a hike, so she was kind of in the mountains/farmland in the middle of nowhere, and was a little bit underweight. They already had 5 cats and couldn't keep her, so we took her.

Her when we first got her on top. She had the biggest ears as a kitten.

Again when she was a kitten. She had shorter hair then, and fluffed up when she was eating better, but it's easier to see how long her tail is here.

Sleepy! But shows a good side profile

Toe tufts!

Of course I don't care what she is, but it would be cool to learn if she had Maine Coon in her! Forgot to mention, she's 11lbs. I'm not sure if she's considered large since I haven't really been around cats to know how big they usually are, but I think she's pretty average, and she doesn't have those pointy ears like Maine Coons, but her fur is soooo soft and tufty, and she gets bed head so easily!

Thanks!

She looks quite like a Maine coin to me!! While she doesn't have lynx tips she still has other ear furnishings that resemble that of a Maine coon. Also the mane like neck fluff is a common thing to see on them. I'd say she's at least partially Maine coon or maybe Siberian from what I can see :) Beautiful cat by the way!!

Could be but long haired definitely. Long haired cats are assumed to have originated in possibly Turkey or Russia. They all have a similar origin so whether Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest cat to domestic longhair they are cousins:)

Beautiful girl and I'd say Maine Coon influence. At 11lb she's already in the female range and could continue growing for another couple of years or so. Lynx tips are not essential in the breed and there can be show winners without them. My Oliver is purebred and he doesn't have much in that department. She has similar colouring to Oliver as well.

I thought the nose profile didn't seem straight enough for a NFC
That's a good point, I'm wondering whether a little more age might bring that around :) but yet, maybe not. :deal: She will be what she will be, but I personally get a lot of enjoyment out of gently attempting to decode their mysterious selves.

She and you are so fortunate in each other :redheartpump:

Hi! Her body, the way she carries her body, her head and shoulders, the ear set, her face and her face markings are all making me think Norwegian forest cat, --quite a lot actually :) but you know what?
Either way, she's one fabulous cat!!
I too see more of a Norwegian here, but I wont debate the MCO´s partisans. :)

And yeah, 11lb is biggish if you are a young female.
When I posted on here a while back, they also said she looked like a NFC! I couldn't imagine finding an actual NFC, mix or otherwise, running wild around Oklahoma, but I definitely won't turn down saying she might look like one of those beauties!

Oh, by the way, I saw a comment in a different thread that suggested to have your vet utilize a designation/description of something other than a purebred, so that if you obtain pet insurance they don't go skyhigh with the rates.
Oh wow, never thought of that being an issue! Thanks for the advice!
