It's a beautiful clear sunny day, bright blue sky, no clouds, no wind. . .and it's currently -12F :cold:. Lowest temp was -19 last night and it's supposed to get down to -25 tonight. If the wind kicks up we could have -50 windchills. Brrr!

This sun is tricky. People who move here from warmer areas say they see a nice sunny day and assume it's warm, only to find out the sun doesn't work in the winter!
Here, too. Right now, it's gorgeous and bright and sunny. But it's -1....looks can be deceiving. Mollipop is sitting on her pillow, staring out the window and yelling at me because I won't open the windows for her. I told her that we'd freezer to death, but she won't believe me. I turned into a Popsicle about a week or so ago and won't thaw out now until sometime late April/early May. It's ridiculous.

 HaH! I can just picture her. It's been well below freezing :cold: for quite a while now, however Gypsy really, really, really wanted out the other night so I opened the door for her, little miss independent went out on the porch and did her mother hen pose looking down at the alley. I propped the stormdoor open and left the backdoor cracked. I didn't get two steps away from the door when she hightailed it past me into the hallway! :bliss:

It's 7 degrees and partly clouding where I am, and the days are starting to get slightly longer. At 4:30pm today it was still fairly light and this time last week it would have already been pitched black. This makes me smile, because that means that my favourite season - spring - is coming soon!

It was 5 this morning and windchills made it below 0. Not fun. It gets dark early here, by 4pm its turning to night.

This morning when I left for work, it was 7 F. Our high today will be 23 F. It's brisk outside, too, with the wind, so it's really cold.

This morning, I thanked the automotive gods for my remote starter as I stood in the kitchen and started up my car. I will never, ever not have a car without a remote starter again. It's worth every penny in the winter.

Yikes!!!! Just saw the weather: A huge snowstorm with frigid temps immediately after it.. Predicted to be 12-15 inches of snow on Thursday!!!

This is going to be a horrible winter... I can tell. I cannot get warm.. and it is 18 degrees.. a lot higher than what it has been..

Had to turn the temp up in my apartment. I think they cut the thermostat down in the lobby and the halls.. It is chilly out there...makes my place colder..

4F right now, windchill -14F - we're definitely in the midst of an arctic freeze. I just saw on the news that even the penguins had to be moved from Alberta, Canada due to the extreme cold. :cold:

I think Mother Nature finally got the memo. After two weeks of unrealistic high temps (for winter up here) it was just over 40°F today with a low in the low teens tonight. Snow would be nice, not tons of it. But the fire danger is going to be extreme if we don't get something soon.

Rick was telling me about a nor-easter coming up through the coast, artiemom artiemom . Is that what you're talking about? He said it was to stay around the coastal areas from what he had heard. Not funny. The almanac had said this winter was going to be extremely cold and very snowy.

It was -4 when I left for work this morning.

Time for me to start screaming, "BELIZE, baby! The day after I retire! I swear!"

Very cold. Tomorrow will be a hoot...Lots of snow, blizzard conditions, most likely power outages, etc.

Winchester Winchester Yes, that is what I was referring to.

I was out early, at the grocery store before 9AM... It was already mobbed. No shopping carts in the store.. I got the next to the last one. No baggers, but tons of registers open..

The bread aisles were out--being restocked. I took one of the loafs off of the restocking cart; so did a lot of other people--hey, it was the freshest.
Between the holidays and the weather, they really had to re-stock everything.

Upon leaving, there was almost a physical fight for my parking spot!! OMGosh!!
Two elderly women!!! I saw the entire thing unfold.

One was in a SUV, waiting patiently for me to load my trunk and place the shopping cart in the correct area. While I was taking the cart to the cart area, a small Toyota, zipped around the SUV, cutting it off. It was now in front of the SUV.. Mind you, The SUV had it's directional on the entire time it was waiting for me to leave...

As soon as I back out, the Toyota, zoomed in, cutting off the SUV, waiting for my spot--now this one had HER directional on... as soon as I pulled out, she sped right into my spot!! OMG!! I could not leave my aisle because another car was waiting for another spot, up ahead...so I watched in my rear view mirror and opened my window a bit to hear..

HORN started blowing, and blowing, and blowing.. Woman in SUV was screaming.. Woman in Toyota was oblivious!! She continued to finish her parking, and getting her bag, in hand.. Woman from SUV, came out of car, to confront her... Toyota lady was oblivious!!
Looked as like a deer in headlights. SUV woman, went right up to her window, which Toyota lady opened. She screamed that she had waited an hour for this spot????
I do not think so, but.. whatever.. SUV woman was expecting Toyota lady to get out of the spot.. Was not to be...

I felt bad for the SUV woman.. She was patient, waiting for me to load my groceries, put cart away and back up..Even giving me more room to maneuver.. The Toyota lady was just rude.. While I was stuck, waiting to get out of the aisle, I was tempted to join in and tell the Toyota lady that she was wrong... but decided against getting involved..

With this day and age.. even little old ladies, with blue hair can be packing a gun.. why chance fate?

The clouds are starting to really thicken up and it's around 40° F now. So just maybe we will get some much needed moisture.

I never go the supermarket the day before a storm :headshake: I keep tabs on the 7 or 10 day forecast and if a potential storm is predicted, I start to stock up ahead of time. I have plenty of groceries to last until Saturday. I'm hoping the power doesn't go out :crossfingers: I have an electric stove and the freezer is full of the cats' raw food:paranoid:

It got up to 30F today with lots of sun. The calm before the storm
