IMG_0596.JPG IMG_0506.JPG IMG_1151.JPG I have a beautiful cream color, medium length hair rescue kitty. His flame points (particularly tail & feet) have gotten more pronounced as he has aged. He has blue eyes and a diva personality, typically hissing or growling when he dislikes or is unsure of anyone. Being an only cat would be his preference, but he has finally formed a "friendship" with the other adult male, playing chase & wrestling which can get too rough at times. Snowy was very antisocial when I first got him, but after several years he now finally sits on my lap for short periods & initiates nose rubs. Preferred sleeping place is above my head on couch or chair. He is an amazing high jumper. His face (under the fur) is small & kind of triangular. What do you think might be in his breed mix? Siamese? Himalayan? Persian? Ragdoll? Birman? Thanks for your best guesses.

This is a misunderstanding, but spread further by a popular TV-program (the 101 cats?).

The M is typical for all tabbies. Connection with Maine Coon? Maine coon are very often tabbies, so - in part its true sort off - Maine Coons usually do have this M on their forehead. :)

Os he biggish? It seems so to me.
He is about 9 lbs now that he is completely indoors. When outside, it was hard to keep weight on him. Lots of tree climbing and running around on the roof.

All of my tabbies have M's on their foreheads. I thought maybe Snowy has some dilute orange tabby in him?

Tabby is a coat marking, not a breed in itself. Snowy’s points do have tabby markings, so you could call him a flame lynx point. Lynx point is the official name for a point with tabby markings.

All reds are tabbies so often we dont call them for tabbies. It wouldnt be no sport. But sometimes they have the markings really distinct and clear. If so we do call them for tabbies. :)

This cat is a lynx flame point ragdoll. As it matures, the feet, tail, ears, some of its back, and face will get darker red. Ragdolls get thicker, darker, and fluffier until they reach full maturity at 3 years of age. They are highly intelligent and affectionate. You have a beautiful baby. I just lost mine to cancer at almost 13 years of age. She was the best cat I have ever raised and is sorely missed.

D DarkFae77 , I'm very sorry about your loss. I know it is hard to lose a friend.

This is an old thread. The original poster Beachcat hasn't visited this site since 2017 and Marleycat hasn't been here since 2018.

I would describe both Beachcat's cat and Marleycat's cat as red point or cream point domestic longhairs. (It can be difficult to tell the difference in pictures between red point and cream point.) They are both lovely cats! Most cats are not any particular breed, and are also not "mixes" of breeds.

I saw this response already but I wanted to chime in. He really looks like he is mixed with a Maine Coon cat.

Maybe we can compare him to a pointed Siberian?
I do see some Siberian in the coat type, but also Siamese in his face. Great suggestion! I think Siberian is the best guess for the longhair part. It’s just the way his coat is filled out.

That's just not how it works with cats. Looks like? Yes. But is it? No not likely at all.
Sometimes you can identify some heritage by looking, even in cats. Sometimes, though, breeds combine to look like another breed. I think it would be fun to DNA test my cats and see if they have anything I’ve guessed.

They are all mixes of something, but I see what you mean. There may not have been intentional breeding at any point in the line.

So sorry about your loss! I recently lost my best friend, a blue Burmese, at 19 1/2. It’s so hard. I miss him even more 4 months later. He does look like he could be a Ragdoll. His face is very sweet. I wonder what the breed background of the cat I found. He looks very much like the cream point cat shown, but a little less fluffy. I’d call him medium haired. Just found this site by googling to see what he might be. I was set on another Burmese, but he won me over quickly. I still hope to have another someday. I hope you have a cat love in your life today.

I know this is an old thread, but what a beautiful boi! Just gorgeous and a sweetheart. I hope he is still with you and doing well. I concur with the person who guessed Siberian, because of the way his coat is filled in. I suspect some Siamese, perhaps, because of his face type and elegant body. I recently found a cream point male who looks a lot like him! F1D76116-278D-40AD-A79E-2B5B7429A5BC.jpeg 62EB6438-B907-4B52-8552-3E30372372FA.jpeg 9BDD18DE-6B1E-48B4-977D-AD4E7A3C3658.jpeg

Mine has a long-haired tail but the rest is medium-short. Very sweet guy! He doesn’t like being held much…he sees it as being restrained. He seems to have had some trauma. He does love interacting and being petted, just wants to be able to move around as he pleases. He’s very verbal. Any guesses as to his breed background?
