My cats loveeeeee the red barn stews. One of the only canned foods I’ve seen my picky female eat a whole can of. The pates were meh for them. But I usually add a bit of warm water to pates to make it more gravey for them. As far as quality goes I think their line is pretty darn good.

Mine did not care for the pate either. I’ll have to try the stews.

My cat eats pate, and she likes it best straight out of the can, but if it sits out for a little bit and she's ready to finish it I have to add a little water. Whenever I've fed her stews with gravy she licks the gravy and doesn't eat the meat.

Our cat with food allergies tolerates both venison and lamb quite well. But, of course, every cat is different. :)

Buddy absolutely adores Redbarn's lamb pate! But he also likes the lamb from Hound & Gatos pretty well.

He used to be wild about KOHA's venison and kangaroo LID pates. Then one day he suddenly wasn't, after I had made a special trip across town to buy a whole months supply!

Have you bought Hound & Gatos lamb recently? They changed how they make it and it is horrible. I wouldn't even feed it to my cat. It is super dark, really dry, and the supplements aren't mixed in. I was sent a replacement order of it and it was the same.

I think I will try the Redbarn lamb pate. I'm suspicious of whether the added veggies in it will give her a reaction but I'm going to try it.

I'm also curious about the "green lipped mussels" in Redbarn's lamb. I'm wondering if pets with allergies to fish would be allergic to that too?

Perhaps we've just been lucky thus far. I've noticed that the cans we've gotten from Chewy are drier than the ones almost past the best buy date we bought at the holistic pet food store. However, I recently learned quite by accident that some changes might be just around the corner, and maybe we got the last of the old cans.

Buddy isn't actually allergic to fish, but it does wreak havoc with his urinary tract, so we avoid it like the plague. But I've heard that some cats who can't tolerate 'fish fish' (e.g., salmon, trout, etc.) do just fine with shellfish, and Buddy seems to be one of those. In fact, his overall health improved so much when he was eating a lot of KOHA food, which contains GLM, we started including freeze-dried green lipped mussel with his other daily supplements.

If you're interested in trying Redbarn without having to order a whole case, you might check into Pawstruck. The shipping is a little pricey if you're just ordering a few cans, but it would still be cheaper than buying an entire case if your cat doesn't like it.

Wish you and your kitty the best of luck!
