Jasper taught himself to fetch. :yess:
I threw his crinkle ball for him to chase, and he picked it up in his mouth. I wasn’t surprised, as he loves to run around carrying his toys... but then he turned around, trotted over to me, and dropped it at my feet.
I was so shocked. We haven’t even started clicker training yet. He did this all on his own. I made do with treats and pets as a reward. He’s done it a few times since then, when he’s in the mood, in exchange for more treats and chin scritches. It’s absolutely adorable.
His brother hasn’t figured it out yet, so maybe when we start clicker training he’ll catch on. Percy’s more interested in snuggling in the beanbag, anyways. Jasper, on the other hand, will do anything for food. He’s not beneath begging after he’s just been fed and when there’s a whole bowl of dry food waiting for him. :p

I just found this video- someone saves a rabbit from the fires out west. I would have done the same. In fact I am crazy I would run through it to get to the animal(s). Call me crazy but yep if my house was on fire-I would make sure I got the girls before saving myself or at the very least toss them out the window since most rooms have windows and doesn't take much to kick the screen out.

My flowering gum is covered in pink flowers and rainbow lorikeets.. it's one of the most wonderful sights. The birds eat themselves silly and then come down and fight over who gets the birdbath first. It's deafening and very joyful.

@mani, The colors are so vibrant on these sweet birds, and I can almost smell the pink flowers on the flowering gums. Thank you so much for sharing these awesome photos as both the trees and birds to me are something not familiar to me and I am so glad to see them.
They look and sound wonderful, @mani.

Some more birds and cuteness...

mama africa mama africa , I can never imagine seeing a Blue-footed booby, I am so glad to see your photo! I am struck by the gentle eyes of this bird. They seem very much like the eyes of seagulls that I see here when I visit the beach. I have a fondness for these birds because of the kindness in their eyes (I know, sounds crazy), but I love them.

I'm happy you liked the photo, R raysmyheart ; I can still remember the dedication and the tenderness of that Blue-footed booby mom to keep the chick under her wing, out of the sun. It was a pawsitive experience to me.

My new cat wanted some alone time to get used to the new house. A+ for effort though Sumi.

@karmacappa , I am so glad for you adopting your new wonderful friend!:catlove: When I adopted Speedy, those first few days and weeks are so exciting (I wish I had a camera then and the days and weeks have turned into months and years that are just as exciting)! anyway, I am so glad for you and Sumi!
Speedy did the same thing when she came home, she hid (under the hutch) and didn't come out for quite awhile. I let her have all the time she needed, now she is a very skilled cuddler.:catrub:We're so happy for you!:)

foxxycat foxxycat -- yes, isn't that wonderful? I hope the rabbit and the hero who saved him/her are safe. There's also a pic up online of a firefighter who saved a little cat. These are the heroes who make us feel glad to be human, aren't they?
My little tree is securely posted and tied once again; I added a couple of ties as it's a tall sapling and it can use all the security it can get during these terrible winds.
Meanwhile, working away for cats and my *PRAYERS* continue to everyone in the fire zones.

Can't believe I'm seeing this thread now.
Hello Everyone, After losing my 2 loves last year, Simon in the summer and Chestnut a year ago this week. I'm so excited to share in the news that I took steps to move forward, and was approved for adoption through North Shore Animal League. I'm so excited I started nesting.

I'm hoping to have two kitties under my tree. I'm leaning towards senior sisters or siblings who lost their homes.

It's a cooooool brisk day here in the Big Apple and it feels Grrrrr-ate!

Missed you all, Warmest regards, Hope

It's time for a reminder of the rules! WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO OUR FIRST PRIZE!!!!! Make sure you follow the rules so if you are post 1,000 you are eligible! I can't stress this enough.

1. Positive posts only. Tell us something nice about your day or about the world in general. Forget neutral - spread the joy! If you feel like ranting or venting about something that's, well, not as positive, start a separate thread for that please. If you get confused and post something we don't think is positive, it could end up deleted or moved to its own thread.

You can add neutral content to a positive post (for example, if you have a question about this fundraiser or if you want to respond to a previous post in a neutral way) but please avoid negativity so we don't have to edit it out.

2. Minimum of 15 words per post. Just posting "good morning!" won't qualify for the purpose of this thread and will be deleted. Keep your posts long enough and meaningful. The only exception is sharing a page from TCS on social media - in which case a link to the share is enough.

3. Proper English. Please don't just hit randomly at your keyboard. No gibberish allowed and as with other posts on the site, try to avoid texting abbreviations.

4. Comprehensible posts. Your posts need to make sense. Avoid using automated text generators. It's a babbling thread by nature, but we still expect you to communicate with your fellow members.

5.Original posts only. Please do not copy and paste text from another source. Not even from this site. Not even if you were the author. Just write something fresh for each post in this thread.

6. No consecutive posts. You can't add a reply if yours is the last post in the thread. If anyone starts talking to themselves to speed things up, they risk getting banned from this thread.

In other news. I finally got my Fall decorations packed away and most of the Christmas totes are down. Let the decorating begin! :santa:

I tried making a paper rose yesterday and was pretty happy with how my first try turned out. Doing arts and crafts always helps me relax, and this one was really fun to make.
Just the flower, before I made the stem and the leaf:

AmyTheKittyMommy AmyTheKittyMommy , the paper flower you have made is wonderful! The paper you have selected seems to slightly reflect the light, giving the flower a sheen like real rose petals. Arts and crafts ARE wonderful and many of us may have cats that love to help with crafts, like the cats who like to jump on the fabric of sewing projects.

Thank you!
R raysmyheart Cats do seem to love helping with projects. The kittens enjoyed watching me cutting and folding paper, but they were preoccupied with an empty toilet paper roll they were vanquishing. It makes me happy to see them having fun with something that I’d otherwise just get rid of. Recycling at its finest!

I need to get up but it's cold out, and we are all cuddly. Miss Edna the momma kitty who found me and I trapped her babies is hanging out in my room today. She's such a sweet girl and thankfully her and the babies are not stuck in that abandoned house anymore!
