Just venting, guys. Didn't know where else to post this!

To Whom It May Concern

You don’t know me and I don’t know you. I don’t know if you are male, female, young or old. I don’t know where you are from. I don’t know your personal circumstances. the one thing I do know is that you had two brilliant, beautiful cats and you lost them because you neglected them. I know that because I have had the privilege of rescuing them.

When we went to our local rehoming centre, we saw Millie and Tiesha and instantly fell in love with them. We spoke to one of the girls who was working in the cattery and she let us in to their kennel for a few minutes. Both Millie and Tiesha revelled in the attention we showered them with in the short time we spent with them. Did you ever give them any attention? Did you show them affection?

We weren’t told much about their lives before they arrived at the shelter, all we were told was that animal welfare took them from you and brought them in as you had neglected them. They were riddled with fleas, so much so that you could feel that they were covered in bites when you petted them. Did you know about the fleas? Were you oblivious or did you just not care?

We brought Millie and Tiesha home 6 and a half weeks ago. When they arrived home, Millie hid under our bed for 8 hours and Tiesha was a little hostile. They were terrified. Day by day we gained their trust and they began coming out of their shells. Now, they have completed settled in to their home and are truly part of our family. They have two lovely cosy beds which they very rarely use as they prefer the bottom of our bed or my lap! They love their cat gym and will lie on the top platform keeping a look out. They have loads of toys – I am forever tripping over a toy mouse, ball or pom pom! Millie’s favourite is her little mouse that squeaks when touched... she plays with it every single night until she’s tired. Of course, feeding time is the best time of the day – this makes for two VERY happy cats. They’ll eat anything (including my slippers apparently!) but biscuits are their favourite. Millie acts like she has never seen food before and eats her food before trying to eat all of Tiesha’s too! Were they not fed enough with you? Did they have to fight for their food?

Their little personalities are shining through now and they make us laugh every single day. Tiesha absolutely loves cuddles with me and will follow me like she is my shadow. I can’t go anywhere without Tiesha being right behind me. Millie favours my partner over me but she still loves attention – especially chin rubs in the morning when she’s headbutting us to wake us up for breakfast! The pair of them are extremely wary of other people though, and will hide if we have company. Were they abused and that’s why they are so cautious of humans?

These two precious little cats relied on you to look after them and love them and you let them down. It hurts me when I look at their gorgeous little faces and think about what they’ve gone through. I struggle to comprehend how anyone could neglect them. How could you fail to care for them? How could you not see what I see? While there is no excuse for what you have done, part of me (in a really strange way) wants to thank you, because now I have the two most gorgeous cats who are making my house a home and who make my days a bit brighter just by being themselves. I feel extremely lucky that with me, Millie and Tiesha have their forever home.

I have no idea what kind of start they were given or how badly they were treated, but I know that from now until the end of their lives, they will be with us in a home where they are cared for in the way that they should be and they are, and always will be, loved beyond words.

Bless your heart for finding the compassion to rescue these two little girls. The sad thing is, they are the lucky ones. Someone almost had to have tipped off the authorities, most of these neglected babies just die, alone, starved, and end up without even a decent burial. How may times have I read- CAT LEFT IN HOUSE AFTER RENTER LEAVES, or how many times do I read on those little cards in the front of their cages at the shelter, Found wandering the neighborhood, begging for food, abandoned. It truly breaks my heart. Or the worst of all, Owner enters nursing home, or Owner died, turned in by relatives. Really?! Not one relative could find the compassion in their heart to give this sweet baby a home? My heart cries that cats are still considered toss away objects, WHY?!!! Just two years ago I had an obviously elderly, almost toothless skinny cat show up at my doorstep. Almost bald, scratches and bites all over him from neighborhood cats, incontinent and crying pitifully. IT WAS WINTER! There is an assisted living up the road, ? Owner died? I gave him a heated hut, which I had to daily clean because of his incontinence, all the food and medical care he needed, and all the love he wanted. He lived for another year, the most greatful and gentle cat I have ever known.
I rejoice for you and your two new babies, I pray you have many, many years together! I pray there will come a day when shelters are no longer needed, that every cat is a treasured and wanted member of someone's family!

You and your partner are wonderful people. The world needs more like you. Bless you both for seeing that animals aren't something to be thrown away. You, your partner, and the cats walked away winners. It was very fortunate that y'all met. (Pardon the y'all...I'm southern.)

My partner came in late last night and I could hear him saying: ‘hey kitty, kitty.’ Wondered what he was doing as our kitten was stretched out sound asleep on her fleece blanket at the bottom of the bed. Apparently it was a cat in our garden . Now it’s freezing here at night and I wondered who would let their cat out at night ... although partner sadly thinks may be a stray . I wonder ‘how’ and ‘why’ a lot too

Beautiful message, and beautiful cats! Thank you for saving them from an awful fate.

I've seen many shy kitties come out of their shells with consistent love and good treatment. You are doing the right thing, and they will come to revere you as their rescuer, and the person who taught them, for perhaps the first time, that humans can be good. It makes me so happy to see how many people there are working to help poor babies like these.

They're gorgeous, and so lucky to have you <3 my boys had a bad start too, they were chucked over a wall into the garden of a cat rescue centre overnight when they were newborns with their sisters, who luckily also now have loving forever homes. I would love to know who dumped then just to ask them why and how they live with themselves x

You're a great deal kinder than I would ever be. If I found those monsters, they wouldn't be breathing. So grateful that those little ones are safe and loved, as every cat should be!

This made me cry, I too rescued a sweet baby full of worms, ear infection, stomach problems so bad nothing would stay down. But through love and persistence I researched and we are now doing well and gaining, he is marvelous! This baby is loved by so many friends that stop by just to love him, of course he eats it up. He is spoiled and his life with me will be nothing but that forever!

To MOUSES former owner, when she was ZELDA (YUCK!). I cannot believe that she was a great kitty as a baby, but moving didn't include her. I'm so happy I heard the kitty needed a home, especially when the next day THE DOG RAN AWAY!!! It took us a while, she wasn't too trusting and to be honest I don't blame her! She was a throw away pet and started her life at the SPCA and then ALMOST ENDED UP BACK THERE AT 1 YEAR OF AGE! MAX adores his big sister and we are blessed to have her residing with us!

My cat was caught in a trap about fifty miles from here. He was taken to the nearest shelter. He got shots, etc, there. They held him for the required four days then took him to the pet store about twenty five miles away. We found him there. All of this happened over the Christmas holiday. The shelter was near a military town. I have wondered if maybe he was owned by somebody who was out of town for the holiday. Maybe he escaped from the house when someone came over to feed him. He had a problem with explosive diarrhea at the pet store. They put him on a special food for sensitive stomach and I had to wait an extra week. When they called us to come get him finally, they thought he was okay, but he was not. A trip to the vet didn't uncover any problem. I changed his food to a limited ingredient diet and he has been fine ever since. So I thought maybe he developed an allergy to his food and was messing up the house. Maybe his owners just turned him out so they wouldn't have to deal with it. Whatever his story, I wish I could tell his owner how happy he is now to live with us.
