Not only is she my first ever cat, she's my first ever pet! I fostered her for several weeks, and every day as she crawled into my lap for pets, she crawled into my heart. When the foster period was over and she was ready for adoption, I just couldn't let her go.

But I'm having a hard time settling on a name. I'm thinking something that isn't a human first name, sweet as I hope she grows into her name, and a little different. Here are what I've been thinking:

Cinnabon - her colors remind me of cinnamon rolls, but "cinnamon rolls" is too long. Cinnabon sounds like an abbreviated version and it's also the name of a bakery chain known for their cinnamon rolls.

Whisper - she has a very small voice and dosen't really meow, but makes small "ah ah" noises sometimes.

Ashton - the last name of the protagonist (Juliet Ashton) in one of my all-time favorite novels called "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". I'm a bookworm.

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

PMousse PMousse - First off, welcome to TCS. Years ago - back before we traded our dinosaurs for horses - Billy Matthews owned the antiquarian bookshop on Jarvis Street in Fort Erie, just down the QEW from you. One afternoon a stray followed him back, and eventually became the Bookshop Cat - "B.C." despite my having pestered him to name her, "Incatnapula" - "Inkie" for short. Since you're a bibliophile....

Welcome to The Cat Site, PMousse! :dazzler: Your kitty is very pretty! That pretty and she crawls on your lap for pets every day - she is definitely a keeper and you did the smart thing in being a foster fail! :redheartpump:

I'm not good at names. It has taken me months to decide. My poor kitties! I like the suggestion of taking all of the names you like and trying them on her and see if she likes one.:happycat:

Thank you for the info, tabbytom! I'm still navigating the forum and getting familiar with the subforums. Your links are very helpful!

We have five calico's. Mama kitty. she's our only mostly white Calico. Bella, Daisy, Skye and Jemma are all tortie's.

Don't worry, a name will bubble up to the top. :)
Ohh I like the name Skye...reminds me of the character in the TV show S.H.I.E.L.D.S....

I've always liked 'Patches', or 'Callie' or 'Amber', 'Penny' (for her color) or 'Taffy' because she is sweet! Cinnabon is a good one too. You'll know the perfect one to call her, try them all on her and see if she responds. Welcome to the site!
Amber is a beautiful name....yes I've been calling her different names to see her reactions...:)

Welcome PMousse PMousse and new kitty cat to TCS!! I think this cat has to be one of the prettiest cats I've ever seen! And very sweet-looking, also. I love the names Sky and Whisper, already mentioned. Autumn, Summer, Pearl, Opal, Cinnamon, Starry, are some, but I really, really like Skye like you mentioned! :daisy::purplebutterfly::daisy::bluebutterfly::daisy::butterfly::daisy: Also, Willow is pretty.

You will know the right name if you give it time and go with your feelings and what you know of this sweetheart kitty!

Congratulations on your new best friend. She is adorable. I like your first thought of name - Cinabon, maybe Bonbon for short. No matter what we name our kitties we always end up with a nickname that they seem to prefer.

Aww thanks a lot! I just told my cat that "raysmyheart said you're the prettiest cat he/she's ever seen!" and I think she approves lol

Thanks for the many great name suggestions--makes me almost want to adopt more so I can give them all these names lol

Welcome to TCS and conCATulations on foster failure! Thank you for fostering in the first place -- we desperately need good foster homes for cats and kittens waiting for their loving permanent homes and families!
I am sure your little beauty will bring you untold joy and happiness. In my experience, cats will let you know their names (yes, seriously) if you just be patient and aware. The perfect name will come to you in time, I am sure! At least, this is how it happens in our family.

We named ours Hunter and Dexter only because M'Lady needs order in her life and wanted to give them names as quickly as possible.
I, on the other hand, like the cats, prefer a little more chaos in my life.
I always prefer waiting to name a pet until I get to know them better.
I will begin to call them something that fits them as I see them.
I now seem to be settling in on Tubby and Skinny Cat.
But, that can change if I see them differently.

I've never had a pet that couldn't adapt to being called something different after a few days.
Keeps them on their toes.

HI and welcome to TCS! Congratulations on the adoption of that precious kitty. They have a way of worming their little paws right around your heart , don't they? Yes , you will come up with the perfect name. Just watch your kitty and try out names. Both your kitty and you will come up with the perfect name that suits her. She is a beautiful kitty and so very lucky. She now has a home and someone to call her very own. Every kitty should be that lucky!
