Hello All,
I have had a Siberian cat since she was a kitten. She is now about a year old and very sweet and gentle. She has NEVER used her claws on me (even when I shave her backside, shave between her toes, clean her butt, check her teeth, cut her claws, etc). However, the weird thing is she has started to gently nip me (which still doesn't feel great because her teeth are so sharp). This started a few weeks ago and she has been persistent in doing it every day.
What will usually happen is I will be laying on the couch and she will jump down off her cat tree and rub against my leg. She will then smell my leg a few times, then nip me. If I don't say no, she will keep doing it, and if I go to grab her or pet her, she will run. Is she doing this because she is annoyed I was not paying attention to her for too long in her tree? If so, why would she run when I try to pet her after the nip?
Also, she will sometimes nip me in the morning. Usually, it is in bed if she tries to rub on me a few times to get me to pet her and I ignore it, which she rewards with a nice little bite. Also, it seems like if I stop petting her too soon in the morning (like before 10 minutes) she will follow me out and wrap her paws around my leg (never with claws) and bite slowly, but with steady pressure until I push her off. Its not especially painful, but its annoying.
Do any of you have any ideas why she might do this? Do you know why it might have started so recently?
