Nope. Nope. Nope. Hard pass on all the "pumpkin" flavors and smells. It is inescapable after September.

I am really excited for the Winter Dream Tea Latte from Coffee Bean and Tea leaf but that wouldn't come until November. :frown:

I like to carve pumpkins and roast the seeds. That's about it. Is there any actual pumpkin in a pumpkin spice latte or is it just the pumpkin pie spice? It just seems like an odd combination to me. My taste buds are confused by it. I've considered trying one then they ask me, "can't we just get caramel or mocha?" I reply, "yeah. that's probably for the best".
OK, seeds? Now you're talking! I love to roast pumpkin seeds. They are the best snack ever!

Back in the 90s I went to San Francisco with my husband (now ex) because he was attending a seminar and I'd always wanted to go there. We arrived around 1:00 am Pacific time and I was starving because I had missed my in flight meal as I was sleeping. We stayed at a lovely Japanese hotel, Hotel Niko.
The only food that was available that late were club sandwiches and pumpkin soup. They served the
soup with a dollop of sour cream. I was hooked. We were there 4 days and I ordered it 5 or 6 times.
My sister now makes it and it's good but not as good as the hotel's.

Oh, yeah, Japanese pumpkin soup and pumpkin tempura are great. It's not an American pumpkin though---it's a kabocha squash. So for homemade pumpkin soup, you might get better results with a winter squash than with an actual pumpkin.

Speaking of all these yummy things, I was putting a recipe back in the box and saw I had a recipe for cinnamon pumpkin banana bread. :yummy: I just checked, and have all the ingredients I need on hand, so I'm going to make that today and then make myself a smoothie with the leftover pumpkin puree. Yum. :)

I usually don't care for pumpkin, but I had a pumpkin spice iced coffee at McDonald's the other day and it was really good. These restaurants all want to be the first to start selling pumpkin spice flavor.

i don't really 'get' the attraction to pumpkin spice things these days. i like pumpkin, use it in baked goods during the fall months here and there. but i actually just buy apple pie spice and use that to spice both apple and pumpkin baked goods --tastes great to me!

Yes, kabocha have a very distinctive flavour, don't they? Not quite the same as pumpkin.

I have a friend who likes pumpkin everything. They go overboard with the pumpkin stuff. There is body wash and even coffee. Somebody gave us some of the coffee. I didn't even open it. I think I passed it on to somebody who was brave enough to drink it.

My sister sent me a pumpkin 'care package' one year. She went through her grocery store and bought everything she could find that was pumpkin spice flavored--M&Ms (gross!), coffee creamers, cake mixes, cookies, etc., and mailed it all to me. Too funny.
