Dr. Fox and her vet clinic, River Ridge Veterinary Hospital.

When I took my new kitten, Leonid, for his first vet appointment, I was apprehensive. I was changing vets and this would be the first time I had met this vet. She is the highest rated vet in North Carolina according to vetratingz.com, but you never know how you will get along. Here is Leonid as a kitten.

I was impressed with how very clean and well equipped her office is. And the vet turned out to be a great person, bright, friendly, knowledgeable, intelligent, wise in the ways of animals and very kind. And the head vet technician fell in love with Leonid. Admittedly, that is not a hard thing to do. They cuddled and nuzzled for several minutes. :redheartpump:

It's great to go to a vet where your cat is loved. I like all the staff and they like all four of my kitties. And she is not expensive! I'm very happy with this vet. :lovecat:

Being in rescue we are in and out of the veterinary clinic several times a week! So getting along with the veterinarians is definitely important. One of the first rescues that we had to bring in was Molly.
This sweet girl came to us from a colony of cats after having litter after litter of kittens. Originally I had thought her to be pregnant, but as time progressed it became obvious that she was not any longer and that something else was terribly wrong. My vet was able to squeeze her in for an appointment the next day- and since my schedule was a little difficult they were able to do a drop off appointment where I could drop her off before work and then they would call me after her exam and I would be able to pick her up after work. The plan was to do x-rays to see what was going on inside her and then they would call me back! They did the x-ray and called me around noon. This was what they found...

They told me that she had a pyometra- an infection in her uterus. They went over the estimate for surgery. The total was over $700. I started sobbing. As a small rescue just starting out we definitely did NOT have the funds for this. We were just in there earlier that week with a kitten with an abdomen open and full of maggots that drained our vet fund. I told them to go ahead and do it and I would figure it out. They called me a few hours later to tell me that she was in recovery and that it went well. The office manager who I have become very great friends with also informed me that after talking it over with the vet they were able to cut our bill in half. So then I started crying again. In the following weeks Molly fully recovered and then was adopted.
The staff here have huge hearts, and as often as I have to visit the clinic with our fosters we always feel welcomed.

Here in Nebraska, we are so fortunate to have the Red Willow Animal Clinic with Dr. Wayne Watkins DVM. He went above and beyond his duties after we had brought in a 6 week old stray kitten that was diagnosed with distemper. I had explained that several cats were having the same symptoms, including a mama cat and her whole litter. And that we couldn't afford all the vaccinations and medications necessary for all the strays we were caring for. He showed up at our house that very evening with two assistants and proceeded to vaccinate many strays and update our own housecat's vaccinations.
He came back and asked how they were doing several days later, and when I informed him several had died despite our efforts, he stood quiet with tears in his eyes. I received a bill for an amount that usual covers my own cats vaccinations, he donated vaccinations, medications, and his time to try and save these cats.
Lately, when I worriedly brought in my elderly, almost 17 year old, Burt for abscess surgery, I asked what I could do for him at home after the surgery, explaining that he wasn't doing too well and I thought the end might be near. This wonderful vet replied..."Just take him home and love him", that says it all.

Dr Irons..Afon Veterinary Practice.

This is not so much the kindness of my vet, but the humour.
My cat Fudge, who has sadly passed away, was a very nervous cat. Whenever I took him to the vets he either constantly purred or broke wind, sometimes both. This particular time, whilst I was taking him out of the carried, he broke wind. The smell was horrendous. Dr Irons just looked at me and said "I smell wind, blame the cat shall we". I just found it so funny that tears were rolling down my face. Fudge was having an operation that day and as I left the surgery wiping away the tears of laughter, I had a lot of sympathetic looks from people in the waiting room who most probably thought I had just had bad news. Every time I think if that day I can't help but smile.

When my girl Sadie was ill, we took her first to an animal hospital. They kept doing different tests, and we would bring her home, and back to the hospital. They never found what the problem was, and there were also dogs, which made Sadie nervous. Finally, at the advice of someone here on Thecatsite.com, I looked for a cat vet, before I didn't know there was such a thing. They found out what was wrong with Sadie in a short time, and we began treatment, unfortunately by then, Sadie was too worn out, and the illness had taken a toll on her and she passed. The people at Cat Care of Fayette were all so nice and helpful, even teaching me how to give fluids by IV. This vet is not in my town, it's a 40 minute drive for me, but me and Sadie made it every day. When Sadie passed, they sent flowers and a card signed by everyone there. Back in July when our poor sweet Jasmine was killed, they also sent flowers and a card. I would never go anywhere else with my cats...

I'm not entering the contest but did want to share my favorite vet's info:

HESPERIA ANIMAL HOSPITAL, Hesperia, California, is a full-service, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital with everything on-premises, serving the Victor Valley. Dr. Ahmed is our favorite vet: kind, gentle, knowledgeable, expert, and very considerate of his patients and their caregivers. There is also a full range of high quality foods sold here.

I'm just posting to share my vet info also, just in case anyone lives nearby! I'd rather someone else won the prize.

Westfield Animal Hospital on South Avenue East in Westfield NJ. Not to be confused with another vet with nearly the same name.

They have an extremely dedicated team of vets - several of which have cats of their own so they really know their stuff. The front and tech staff are equally as good. Plus, they work closely with several rescue groups in the area, one of which Cocoabean is from. They will even make house calls if needed, gotta love that.

They have been invaluable in the health care of Casper in particular - who in recent years developed diabetes (in remission) and kidney disease. We feel he's in great hands with them.

Riverside Cat Hospital - Veterinarian In Riverside, CA USA :: Home

My vet is a small cat only practice in a converted house. They really care about the cats and treat each person as family. Link had to spend a week there at one point. I was visiting him everyday and they had no problem with me camping out next to his kennel with him curled up in my lap. They also loaned me a kennel to keep Link in at home while his leg healed.

Our vet pays attention to the cats and doesn't push them any further then she has to. Link absolutely loves his vet and tries to follow her out into the main office every single visit. Rocket becomes an arm-pit cat at the vet and my vet does as much of the exam as possible with Rocket hiding. Only forcing Rocket into the open when she has to. Love them.

Can team members enter? If not, just consider this another "Hekitty" story!

Havelock Animal Hospital, Dr. Paul

These guys have been taking care of Hekitty since day one. They have done a wonderful job with her, and with me. Now, you all know Hek. She is crammed full of tortitude and does not suffer her royal self being trifled with gladly. Or at all. The last time I took her in, just for her vaccines, chipping and nail clip, the receptionist called back, "Hekitty's here for her appointment," and a small voice from somewhere far away responded, "oh GOD!"

Me too. Poor Hekitty vets. ;)

I love Mouse's vets, but because we're here in the UK can't enter the competition for the prize. :sigh: Mouse and I were at the practice just last week for a regular check-up and vaccinations... They now have Cat Friendly' status which doesn't surprise me. T

First off, when we went in to the reception area it was like Doggy Central! :eek2: 3 large dogs including a highly exciteable sheep dog bouncing all over the place. The vet nurse on reception imediately greeted us with a friendly 'hello' followed by 'would Mouse like a blanket for his carrier?' I looked down at Mr Chilled in his crate and declined the kind offer, but it was so lovely to be asked. He then spent a couple of minutes sitting next to the bouncing Collie with an expression on his face something along the lines of 'what an idiot that creature is'. Then we were called in to meet a recent vet arrival at the practice by the name of Kate, who hadn't met Mouse before.

Mouse isn't too keen on the vet's table although he hasn't had any really nasty experiences there, so he was a bit reserved and tried to slither on to the floor and get back to his carrier at first. Kate quickly put him and ease and had a nice gentle touch as she examined him so I didn't have to hold him on the table for long. Even when giving the vaccination she was very gentle and I don't think Mouse even knew what had happened. What I liked best was how nice she was when she told me that my darling 'little' Mouse had put on a full kilo in the last 3 years and that she thought it was time to do something about his weight. I was asked what I would think of going along to the 'Cat Weight Management Group' in a couple of weeks time and because she put it so nicely Mouse wasn't offended at all and has no idea what hard times are about to hit him. Of course I asked her out-right if this was really an 'Obese Cat Clinic' to which she had to reply that it was, but when it came to the question of whether Mouse and I would have to go on long treadmill walks or anything when we went along she was most reassuring that it did not. A simple chat and a look at our feeding routines, and carefully calculated measurements for his food so he can get to a healthier weight safely. I'll be very happy if she can do something about his wait - and - prey - will - come -to - me approach when it comes to play these days as he doesn't run about nearly as much as he used to, and I am sure that has a lot to do with his increasingly pudgy middle.

All the staff at the practice are lovely, and although they treat many dogs and other animals they obviously love cats, which is quite unusual here in the UK. Because Mouse really is a sweety, and quite chilled 'in the fur' he always gets lots of admiration when we go along there, so I am sure that going to this group in a couple of weeks time will be something Mouse will take in his stride despite it being at a vet surgery and having to take a car ride in his carrier there and back. If he gets a few snuggles and scritches from a veterinary nurse that will make his day. :rolleyes2: :catrub:

My vet has a since of humor. I described to him what my cat is like and he said" oh, she's a b×#$€. She can be very territorial. She owns my bed. She will growl if I squirm in bed. Peaches will only play when she wants to play, so she does not like my playful cat. Peaches growls when Maggie comes near. Then Peaches goes in a corner and pouts like a kid.
20161230_212145.jpg
If it's time for her to eat, she will bite me. If she wants to play she will bite me. I do not ever wrestle with her or use a squirt bottle.

Same Vet- Morgantown Veterinary Care. This time it was a joint effort of Dr Kenny and Dr Taylor!
We got a call one night to save a feral kitten who was running lose in a parking garage. Our fosters were able to go out and catch her! Once they got her home and started cleaning her up they realized that she was covered in bite wound abscesses. Our vet was able to see her the next day first thing. The one on her front leg was so bad that they thought they may need to amputate. They had to give her pain meds to even be able to touch her to evaluate her. We left her there for the whole day while they did a more thorough exam and stitched her up as best that they could.
Here she was when we took her home!
20170714_174800.jpg

She went back in a week to check her stitches- she pulled a couple of them out. So they decided to do staples instead. She went back a week after that, they took out the remaining stitches and discovered that it was a little infected so they left it open a bit for the infection to drain out. She went back last week and they finally removed the staples! She is doing really great!
This is her now:

received_1378390175615311.jpeg

Her foster has decided to adopt her!
But our vets definitely saved her leg! They are always so helpful- encouraging frequent check ups- which caught the infection before it got too bad! The office also would call and ask how she was doing which was nice.

Just a note to everyone, one of the rules is to start your entry with "ENTRY". I've added it in to some of the posts.

I'm not entering the contest but did want to share my favorite vet's info:
Why aren't you entering? :headscratch:
