Artie pooped 3 times yesterday!!! It was a bit hard at first, getting progressively more as the day went on; approx 7 x 1 inches yesterday! And it is the Dry prescription food... I can tell by the color, and smell. It does somewhat stick to him. He cannot seem to get rid of the log, on many occasions...

He has eaten over 1/2 cup of the dry food on both Saturday and Sunday. I am not giving him any cypro today. He still insists on wet food, but he is not getting it.

He was so cuddly yesterday and last night.. Would not leave me.

I am going to try to get back on a semi-normal schedule.... as much as I can. My toe is feeling a lot better.. not normal, and certainly not ready to put sneakers on, but it feels a lot better. I have the exercise wrap on a lot looser, just to cushion the toe.

One moment at a time with this cat.
Excellent! King ARTIE! And that's wonderful about your toe, too. Keep looking up!:cutecat::D

No cypro for Artie today.. he slept the entire afternoon.. I had to physically get him out of his tent! He looked dazed, and then went over to nibble a few pieces of food. Then back to his tent!!

no poops today.. have to give him some lactulose....

~AAAAAAAAAND she breathes a sigh of relief~ Well, he wasn't pooping daily when he was at his best. It was every other, or every third? Every other, if memory serves. But he DID POOP! ~does the "Happy Poop Dance," which involves a lot of leaping over small piles and very careful foot placement~ AND he is eating a bit again. I know he isn't fond of the dry food, but we're getting some baby steps!

LTS3 LTS3 Artie must have heard you! Last night, before bed, he pooped! It was a strange combination; one piece was 2 x 1/2 inch, the other 3 x 1 inch. You could really see the difference in size.

Artie was cuddling while I was watching TV. He tried to cuddle in bed, but I was restless and did not fall asleep immediately. The first move, he jumped off the bed and did not return.

Yesterday, I did not give him any appetite drug (cypro). He did not eat as much as he had over the week-end; only 3/8 of a cup, compared with over 1/2 cup the day before.

Artie ate only a few pieces of dry for breakfast.

He is looking very thin..I am not going to weigh him. I do not want to get upset.
This week is my 'getting my head together week".. next week is a semi-busy week.

Next week, I have the dreaded yearly physical with my new PCP...shudder. I did really good with my weight, until all heck broke loose with Artie.. I regained the 20 lbs plus, which I lost, stopped exercising.. eating really badly...sigh. I am going to be read the riot act.

I am certain all the blood tests will be highly abnormal.. I got them down to normal levels last summer, with eating very healthy and exercising...sigh...

Really dreading the appointment.. but noting can be done about it, now...

The toe is a bit improved.. I slept without a bandage. It feels swollen, stiff, and is still a bit reddish. I am going to wrap it, after I shower... just for protection. It is 4 weeks now, so it should be almost healed.. I have been trying to rest it, as much as I can.

I think next week I will have to pick up more dry food for Artie. Hate to jinx myself...

Maybe your doctor is an animal lover and will understand what you're going through. :crossfingers: I've had that happen on more than one occasion when one of our pets were ill. Glad your toe is slightly better, good idea to rest it as much as you can.

I think you're absolutely right not to weigh Artie, you will only get aggravated and it won't do Artie or you any good. Here's to Artie getting a surge in his appetite and eating his food. :beerchug:

artiemom artiemom , remember: The doctor works for you; not the other way around. You're doing your best in trying circumstances. If/when your doctor decides to lecture you, ask for some suggestions for dealing with stress. That would help your health. (Of course, you probably aren't getting this in time for it to do any good. :sigh: )

Artie update for anyone enlisted in "Artie's Army"....

Artie ate 3/8 of a cup of food yesterday. He did poop twice, last evening. There was a total of 9 x 1 inches.. it was so thick; twice the size of what his poops were before. I guess that means his colon is now twice as dilated...sigh... but at least he pooped.

He is so funny. Now that he is eating dry food, he is drinking a fair amount of water. He loves to touch his paw in the water bowl before drinking.. cute..

Artie did something extremely strange last night. He woke me up at 3AM for MORE food! I did not leave out much.. just over a 1/8 of a cup. I got up because he really wanted me for something. He had meowed right in ear. That is when he needs something. I got up, check the litter box, then into the kitchen. I saw that his dish was licked clean.. every last piece gone! I gave him another 1/8 of a cup.. Woke up and found 1/2 of that eaten..

He is now sunning himself. I am about to give him more meds... and start the day...

Artie ate really well this morning, and even pooped again!! another 4 x 1 inches!
He was feeling really good. We played a tiny bit!

When I was in the kitchen, he ate a bit more.. then, he was begging me for our "game". it is a 'hunt - catch" game. I throw a piece of dry food on the floor, Artie acts like a goalie, bats it down, and eats it..

Artie is having a good morning. He also wanted some of the deli turkey ham which I was cutting up for my salad tonight...but I said no....

"No"? What is this "no"??? :cutecat: For Artie, it should always be "YES!!!" :cutecat: Excellent job, Artie -- you keep on asking your mom for food and eating it! Such a good little man!:winkcat:

With Artie and his digestive problems, you have to go the "tough love" route and feed him only the vet prescribed dry food.

My Ruby was never actually diagnosed with IBS, but she does have a sensitive system, and she never gets human food. Course, with me being vegetarian, I guess there's nothing much I eat that she'd want.
