I was bad and went to the Coach store this morning. I still like a light colored purse in the summer and a dark one in the winter. I have a perfectly good black purse also Coach but I have used it the last six winters. I wanted something different.

I rarely allow myself to go into the Coach store. I could easily get myself into financial trouble if I spent too much time in there.

Does it have a million little pockets? I love several little pockets in purses.

You made me smile while I was reading this, thanks. :) Several years ago my daughter was very sick and I was window shopping. Long story short, I walked into a Coach store and bought a purse because the style had the same name as my daughter. BTW, love your new purse!

Very nice! I'm not a purse-son (sorry, I had to do that). I tend to get mine at the Goodwill or Walmart. The last impulse-buy purse was about 1 month ago, when I paid $13 at Ross. Yep, I'm low-rent! :paperbag:

Not as low-rent as I am---I use a $6 mens' wallet I bought on Amazon and I don't carry a purse at all . Paying real money for a purse baffles me, but we all have our hobbies! I actually like that purse, though, especially the chain decoration. Very nice!

Ok, Willowy--you beat me! LOL! In my old historical reenacting days, I loved that I didn't have to carry a purse (most women did not carry anything resembling a modern one when they did). We had flat, tie-on dress pockets under our skirts:
18th century dress pocket - Google Search

Your skirt would have slits at the hip area, through which you'd access the pockets. They normally were not as large as those huge white, embroidered ones in the double photo of the woman getting dressed! They usually were about 12" long or so.

That's a nice purse and I'm not a purse person. I don't use one. I only carry my credit card and drivers license in my back pocket. I've never even heard of a Coach store. I used to buy all of mine at Sears.

Nice one! I like it!

I have several purses, but not a fanatic. I do have a wallet so I have a place to put my drivers license. That being said, most of the time, I stick my money in my jeans pocket and hit the store that way.

I am a thrift shop shopper and purses are my favorite things to shop for. You can get some GREAT deals there. I just picked up a Kipling travel purse, pretty much brand new for $6, retail they run $50 - $85. Funny thing was that just a couple of days before I found it I was looking at this very same purse online, just loved it but couldn't justify spending the money on it. Two days later there it was, different color, but same style at the thrift shop.

Your new purse is cool. Ya gotta treat yourself sometimes! I like light colors in the summer and dark in the winter, too, although I bought a red fake crocodile purse a couple of years ago and have been using it ever since. I like shoulder bags, or cross bodies they call them now, so I can sling it over my shoulder and have my hands free. I favor Stone Mountain bags over Coach and buy them when they are 40% off. But enjoy your Coach!

I am a Stone Mountain fan, too. I buy them when they're on sale. The last one I got, my MIL gave it to me for Christmas the other year. It has purple on it and I love it. I've always liked shoulder bags, too. JCP had a nice "hobo" bag that I needed one time. I still use it from time to time.

Nice! We have a Coach outlet nearby but I've never bought myself anything. I'm so cheap when it comes to purses. Cheap but particular. My current purse is from Kohls and about a year and a half old. But the leather is peeling off the strap big time. :cringe: I'm a mom. I need a purse with a zipper and pockets with zippers and room enough for a bag of crayons and a small notebook and wet wipes and socks and rocks ... and a hook for my keys! :agree:

Maybe if I'd invest in a good purse they would last longer. :dunno:

We took some personal security training and one of the big items was about purses. You wouldn't believe the number of women who just set their purse in the kid seat of the shopping cart. They look away and when they look back, the purse is gone. I had one woman look me in the eye and tell me she never took her eyes off her purse. She had her back to it when she spoke.

If you MUST put your purse in the cart, use the child seat straps to fasten it through the handle so it's harder to steal. And KEEP IT ZIPPED! It's unbelievably easy to reach in and get a wallet and credit cards. You lose money and perhaps your ID, too. I talked to one woman who'd had her purse stolen twice and she still wasn't protecting it.

Never leave your purse in the car. Thieves will do $500 in damage to your window and door to get to a dollar bill left in sight. Our group does parking lot checks and we've seen everything from laptops to large bills to diamond rings left in plain sight. We only look in the window, so who knows what else is in there? One woman parked next to our police trailer and went jogging. She left her window open and her purse inside. I guess she thought we'd watch it. In truth, we were packing up to leave.

Protect yourself and your belongings. It only takes a few seconds.

I see that in the grocery store too Mother Dragon Mother Dragon ! My step-sisters best friend used to leave her keys right in the ignition. Last year my Aunt had her purse stolen from her own driveway; on a semi-rural road. They hit up several cars on her street. She found it in the bushes later.

I like to keep my wallet in my front pocket. Being plus-size; it's kinda tight in there. :paperbag: I don't think someone could easily pick my pocket when it's not super easy for even me to pull out. I have another wallet in my purse but it's mostly pictures and "club" cards. I don't know if that's really much better. My FIL managed to get pick-pocketed in Rome when his wallet was in the front zippered low pocket of his cargo pants. Some people are REALLY good at that. :sigh:

I also keep my keys on a d-ring like you use for mountain climbing. Those get hooked on my belt loop when I have one. Or my purse when I'm not shopping. I've used the d-ring to clip my purse to the cart. It's hard to keep an eye on everything when I'm shopping with 2 little kids who want to walk ahead or touch everything. I don't like letting DH push the cart with my purse in it because I don't feel he's used to having to guard it. It's not worth the risk.

The higher priced purses do last longer. When I was newly divorced with small children I bought the cheap purses out of absolute necessity. I thought I must be hard on purses because they didn't last very long but it wasn't me. I think Coach purses simply don't wear out. The leather actually looks better after a few months. I already have a black Coach purse that I have used the last 6 winters and it is still perfectly good, I just wanted something different.

I would never go with the real high end purses like Chanel. I cannot justify several thousand dollars for a purse.
