They do seem happy. Rusty will soon adapt.

Even though Schofield runs away when we open a door, he is still trying to convince us he doesn't like it inside. He sits and calls us after we go to bed, making sounds like he's seriously hurt. My husband calls it his "nightly serenade."
Don't you just love the yargles? My Elvis goes meowing about the house very late at night sometimes. IDK what I'll do this summer -- his first full summer with us -- because usually I would leave the front door open with the just the security screen, to let the cool air in -- and I'm thinking that if I do that with him here, he'll be yowling all night long! Lots of little creatures visiting, like opossums, squirrels, mice, rats, and maybe even skunks! and other cats!

Yeah - sometimes I swear he's saying "Helllloooo?" It can be nerve wracking. I'm just glad the neighbors can't hear him. They'd called Animal Control for sure!
I LOVE talkative cats. I used to get complaints from downstairs neighbor when we lived in apartment -- he said my cats walked loudly at night. :cutecat::kneading: If you haven't seen the "No More Bath Cat" video on YouTube, you owe it to yourself. Google that topic and watch the video. Now THAT's telling the caregiver!

I miss my chatty cat Zaren a lot. He was always at the door when I got home with a hello. I love to hear them talk, it is so cute.

I know, I know! And since cats have over 100 vocalizations in their vocabularies, they're actually a lot more fascinating to have a conversation with than a lot of humans I know these days :cutecat:

Update. Still the odd hiss but things are progressing slowly.

May 24, Wednesday night, Taz slept in our bedroom with the door closed. Rusty and Zoe wandered the house together all night. Actually it was more like Rusty was wandering and Zoe was keeping an eye on him. The door to Kitty and Rusty's room was open and Kitty spent most of the night in the room.

May 26, Friday, Rusty sitting with Zoe and Taz by the front door. Kitty was also out of the room, sitting near Rusty, she ran to their room when I stood up to take the photo. Rusty waiting to go to the cottage. Everyone was well behaved.

May 27, Saturday, another relaxing day at the cottage.

ondine ondine -- P.S.
You were right when you said "They will slim down, now that they don't have the extra calories"
A few weeks out of the office with no more mice and moles and Rusty has dropped about 2 pounds already. He has gone from approx. 19 pounds to approx. 17 pounds, vet said he should be around 14 pounds. Kitty has also lost weight but she is a lot smaller than Rusty so not as much as him. When I would get to work in the morning they had bulging bellies from dining the night before. Now I see them before I leave for work and no bulging bellies.

Hopefully next update I will have a picture of all four cats together. I won't force it though.

Kitty and Rusty are in early retirement they turn 2 at the end of the summer:kneading:
I just now ran across your thread and finished getting caught up. They are beautiful happy kittys, (all four of them) Can you take Rusty to work with you once in a while? I bet he & your boss would enjoy it. You and your spouse are wonderful folks and you deserve a medal. ; )

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 -- Most definitely Rusty will come for the occasional day at work. I will wait until they are more settled in at my house so I don't feel bad leaving Kitty at home without Rusty. I don't think Kitty likes it at my work place but Rusty likes it. Kitty would hide a lot where Rusty would sit out in the main lobby and watch people. I have a couple of coworkers that miss him, I work with two other animal lovers that helped in socializing them. They also miss Kitty as they are part of the few people she allows to pet her. They will have to come to my place to see her.

My wife wants me to get him a shirt made with the companies logo on it. I am actually considering it. He is rather docile and might actually wear it. She knows a woman that could make it :wave3:

You should see the coats my wife bought for Zoe and Taz. They are cute coats but they don't like them at all. Plus they don't like the snow at all. All my cats seem to hate the snow. It is so cute I live in Ottawa, Canada and I think Zoe blames me for the snow? I swear it is the look on her face. We have a huge bay window and I do have a snow blower?

 When we lived in the Mojave at 4,100 ft., we put each cat in the harness and leash and walked him or her out to see and feel the snow. Of course, they wanted right back inside their catio. But my ex didn't want them not to experience that, because we didn't have snow down in "the flats" in east L.A. Metro where we lived before. No clothes for them, though.

So do we get to see the coats on Zoe and Taz? I don't blame them for not liking them, though -- cats were created with fur coats, which are far more beautiful and insulating than what we make for them. :cutecat::kneading:
