It appears I have one of THOSE cats that while raised indoors from birth would greatly benefit from some outside time. A catio is out this year we have other home projects so I'm wondering if this might fill the gap. toad portrait.JPG

If you are in the US, Petsafe's "Come with me Kitty" harness and leash is endorsed by the SPCA.

I use a "Kitty Holster" cat harness, my cats have yet to escape from it.

Here is an article on harness training.

I'm planning on a Holster for H. Renee as soon as the budget will allow, which SHOULD be next month. LOL...for her birthday, she got vaccinated and chipped. NOT what she wanted, but there was a new mowzie, as well.

She got her chip ? Whoo hoo. Toad got a camo collar today. It just seems fitting for her. Wonder if I can find a little gun shaped cat bell for her. Sometimes she's so much like Kitten it hurts. Everything is on her terms. No compromise.

My cat managed to get out of the Come With Me Kitty harness (to be fair, one strap was too tight, so as she walked the over the shoulder straps loosened enough that she could get out). Luckily, I managed to catch her again, but I would not recommend that harness. I also found the Kitty Holster far more secure, and she tolerated it fine.

I use these. Tommy has worn the same one from 21 lbs all the way down to 12 1/2 lbs. Stewart wears his fine. I have one for each girls should the need come up, but it hasn't yet.

The kitty holster is great. A cat can get out of it (Carrot did once) but it is diffficult (he wouldn't have escaped if he hadn't bit me and scratched me when I tried to stop him from getting out after panicking when a bird flew out of the bushes.

We use these ones now in the double lock style which has velcro and buckles: Hyendry_cat_walking_jackets_and_harness

The person is very responsive and great to work with. Does take a bit of time to receive them though.

Speedy has been walking on the harness for a couple summers now. At first, she used The Come With Me Kitty harness, but it made me nervous, she got out of it a couple times when she was frightened and jumped in the air. I never could judge if it was too loose or too tight. She now wears something of a vest, but now after seeing here, The Kitty holster, I think I would like to get that. I would definitely recommend something like a vest or shirt version. I think it does not dig in, like the straps might.
