Hello Duchessdad, Maine Coons get get up to 11 - 25 lbs and makes coming in heavier than females and reaches physical maturity at around 4 - 5 years old.

Diet contributes to their size too.

Your kitten is lovely :lovecat:

Awww....he's beautiful! Looks like he'll be a big boy! My kitten I adopted at 4 months old weighed the average 4 pounds. At 7.5 months, she is just now 8 pounds, which is slightly heavier than average. Maine Coons are obviously an above average breed. Enjoy them!

The longest Maine Coon currently is Stewie, at 48½ inches nose to tail, although this forty pounder from Japan makes my 5-cans-a-day 34+ pound Norwegian Forest Cat look puny:

They stop growing around age five, however, and you never have to pay their tuition for university.

Compared to the intake of a thirty-five pound child whose college education might easily cost over a million dollars, I consider Bob - who already knows all he needs to know - a bargain. At just over 110 cm, he's a big boy:

That's right, I forget to consider the "size" of the cans. Katy loves fancy feast and those cans are small whereas the ferals that myself and a friend of mine feed eat the "friskies" brand, and those cans are close to twice the size of fancy feast. Need to consider can size, you are right.

View attachment 180589 Maine Coon Kitten exactly 4 months today and weighing 7 lbs 11 oz. Any one know how big this horse is going to get? Not fat just thick chest huge paws etc. sister from same litter 2 lbs less.
That is one GORGEOUS kitten! *I weighed exactly that much at birth, or so they tell me* Yeah, being that big at that age might indicate he's going to grow to be a scale-tipper. My Mainey man wasn't "that big" -- 13.2 pounds in his prime -- but that's light for a neutered male. Look for your horsie to need a saddle fairly soon :kneading:

Here's Big Boy, in the front, and the Baron in the back. They're my two male cats.

Big Boy is a Maine Coon mutt, about 15 pounds. The Baron (von Komfy) is about 17 pounds and a purebred Himalayan. The Baron is fat, while BB is quite lean. Notice how big BB's head is. He's a bit more than ONE THIRD the size of the Japan record Maine Coon. And he's still big. Big Boy was a good name for him. He's a handful, and hard to stuff into a carrier.

This was a hard pic to get. These two don't like each other, but, like well-socialized kitties, are learning to suffer one another with grace.

Holy Moly.

My cat is 8 months old now. Between 5-7 months his growth rate sky rocketed. It has slowed now. I was pretty sure he'd grow to be a big cat. I suspect some maine coone maybe more so than other cats in his genetic history because of his long furred areas especially the tips of ears, tail, paws, etc. It could be some other genetic line. Gosh all these cats are so purrty

N Natty0808 I love this picture.

I think Kaleb still has one month before he settles into his weight range but he is longer than bulkier. One of these days I'm going to research into colors and hair lengths on cats and figure out what he might have in his blood. I know all cats nowadays are a mix of all breeds but some are longer and he does have some Abyssinian brown coloring.

He's definately not as big as these! But still mama's big boy ;)
