My cat has had brown dirty ears for a long time in one ear and never seemed to ever bother her. It comes back quick after I clean it. Recently, I started cleaning it out more and took her to the vet that confirmed it wasnt mites. I used olive oil, and it was still there. He still gave me hexamite, and I only gave her one dose because she seemed to hate it. I told him I wanted to come back to check if it was an infection and he said to wait a few days so he can take another sample to analyse. Anyone have any experience with this?

If it's not bothering her, it's probably just ear wax.

She could have a thrush infection in her ears. The bacteria of a thrush infection produces a lot of dark matter in the ears. My vet prescribed Tresaderm & it worked well.

I cleaned it out a few times. It gets dark quick. Since cleaning, I notice the wax flakes off more, but it always gets dark quick again. I used wahl ear cleaner for pets with eucalyptus oil

My vet told me not to clean her ears for a while and bring her to get tested again.

That makes sense because if, for example, she does have a yeast infection, no amount of cleaning will help. She would need antibiotic treatment such as Tresaderm.

Correction: in my post #4, I said a thrush infection. I meant a yeast infection. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm too much of a clean freak. I just hate seeing her dirty ear. Ive used this a few times, has eucalyptus, menthol and camphor. How did your vet treat your furry friend?
