Apparently I had HVAC service today. The service guy literally showed up at the door :eek3: I didn't schedule an appointment or get a phone call or email about it. I guess there was a mix up in contacting the wrong person with the same name living in the same complex :dunno: I hope I don't get in trouble by management because the service guy had to go up to the roof to check on the AC thing :paranoid: No one is allowed on the roof without prior notification of management and be escorted to the roof by the maintenance superintendent. I don't even know how the service guy got on the roof. I know there's a ladder in the 4th floor stairwell but I would think that the door at the top would be locked for safety purposes.

Not long after HVAC service, the Sears repair guy came to check on my washer. He ran the washer through a bunch of diagnostic tests but nothing resulted in water on the floor :dunno: He thought maybe the overflow tube was leaking and recommended that I use a washer cleaner product monthly to remove any gunk in the tube. I have the washer running on a clean washer cycle right now with a cleaner the guy gave me. So far no water on the floor :crossfingers:

I brought my laptop home again so I can work on editing some monthly log sheets. There are seven different logs for two types of work  Some of the line items aren't even applicable to this particular facility.

  1. Cleaned bathroom this morning. Brand-new towels for me & a new shower curtain liner.
  2. Saw a teeny weeny baby bunny rabbit the other day on my walk. So stinkin cute. Sitting in a driveway in an affluent neighborhood so wasn't too worried about its survival.
  3. Will go out in a bit for a free Dunkin coffee, take in my UGGS for annual re-heel, & then to 3 p.m. Solemn Liturgy for Good Friday at our cathedral.

The cats (un)graciously allowed us to stay in bed until around 5:30 this morning. I do think that, once Rick retires and we're not getting out of bed so early, that maybe we could work with the cats to sleep in maybe 30 minutes later anyway.

  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, Rick will scoop the boxes, (taking a break from the treadmill this morning), stripped the bed down
  • Just threw my first load of laundry in the washer
  • Errands: banking, Target, Ollie's (there's a cookbook that's my calling my name), grocery store for clemantines for Rick's mom
  • Making Chocolate Babka today and I'm also simmering the ham for that new recipe I want to try
  • Just some general straightening-up about the house for tomorrow

Laundry. The service person said to run another cleaner tablet on Monday so I can't use the machine until Tuesday or so when the washer is completely dry. Guess damp cleaner residue may damage clothes. I'm going to use Mom's machine... reluctantly :sigh: Her machine isn't the cleanest or well maintained, shall we say:cringe: Laundromats are expensive here, about $2 a load. I'm hoping that water leak last week was some kind of random fluke.

I need to the bank to make a deposit. And drop a book off at the library. And pet store to pick up the last 2 bags of NV I ordered. Probably will go to BJs tomorrow to stock up on toilet paper and tissues and more boxes for the cats.

today i'll wash the dishes, freeze (half of -- i had thought i'd pre-measured out for two batches, but found that i'd pre-measured for one because it made a 9x13 sized pan) the cinnamon caramel blondies and yesterday's batch of chicken stock, make two pans of stuffed peppers (will freeze about 3/4's of them tomorrow), will wash and sterilize more canning jars and hopefully all the lids, wash more dishes (from today's kitchen activities), and scoop the litter boxes.

Tired this morning and working on another headache; it started in around 2:00 this morning, right around my left eye. Rick's mom is coming down for Easter dinner; she called Rick last night and said she wanted to try to come in. And that's fine with us. He's going up to pick her up around 1:00 this afternoon. I'm glad she's coming....every time she comes down, we always worry that it will be her last time, but she manages to surprise us.

We have asparagus in the garden! :) I'm going to go up and cut some for us for dinner. I think I'll make it the way I would Asparagus and Leeks (minus the leeks). This will be the first year that we were able to take some asparagus. I think we have to be careful this year, but next year, we should be able to take as much as we want.

  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, Rick will scoop when he gets back out of bed, he said he'd vacuum the living room and kitchen for me, too.
  • It's just a matter of making dinner for Easter for 9 of us and that's pretty much it for us today.

today i'll freeze the stuffed peppers, make a double batch of (baked) meatballs, wash and sterilize the last of the (current batch of) canning jars and lids, wash the dishes, scoop litter boxes, and take out the trash and recycling. meanwhile, my cats will be enjoying the windows open (forecast to be mid-70's here today)......smelling the fresh air and basking in the sunshine and warmth. :cutecat:

So lucky to have sunshine ! It's bank holiday weekend here which means the weather is usually a bit hit and miss (mainly miss). I need to extend our window ledges and the kitten and sit although her want to to be able to lie at the windows too

Back to work this morning. We've turned the heat off in the house and, last night, we slept with the bedroom windows open. We had the other windows open, too, but had to run around to close them in the middle of the night when it started to rain. I'm hoping the house heat can stay off now...it would be nice for a break from the electric bills.

  • Breakfast for the kids, made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, grabbed my shower, general clean-up in the kitchen
  • I need to call the garage to make sure our mechanic knows the other guy is coming in today to pick up Clarence.
  • Grab a few groceries tonight, scoop the boxes.

yes, very lucky to have some sunshine here yesterday! today it's back to cooler weather, forecast to be a high of 50 degrees (F).

we just had quite a few windows replaced, so my cats are adjusting to the new window ledges. they're not as comfortable for them to sit or lay on.

today i'll portion and freeze the meatballs i baked yesterday, wash the dishes, scoop the litter boxes, take out the trash and recycling, take a good look around my yard, and pick up the mail at the Post Office. i'll also get the wood stove going at some point.

I was supposed to work (acutally someone volunteered me :angrywoman: without asking) but then I banged up my wirst at work so I'm on doctor's orders to stay home.

I need to run another cleaner tablet in the washing machine. Will do that closer to 9am just in case the person upstairs is sleeping in. I haven't heard his thumping footsteps yet.

I need to put most of the winter clothes away and take out the warm weather ones. While I have the boxes out from under the bed, I'll vaccuum up Leroy's twin... er, clumps of fur. It's all red fur under there :cringe: For a cat with short hair, Leroy sheds a lot more than Emma and her long hair.

Maybe I'll go for a walk later  It's such a nice warm sunny day. Not as warm as yesterday but still nice. I've been meaning to visit the little farm on the next street over for years now. It's mostly sheep and chickens and a farm stand with veggies grown on site. The rest of the property is an estate that is open to the public.

LTS3 LTS3 Please rest your wrist. I know how painful that can be!
It is a bright, sunny day! Not as warm as yesterday.
Marathon Monday!
Schools are closed in my county. So nice and quiet around here.

Open the windows
Probably do a bit of laundry
Straighten up a bit around here
Medicate and devote some time to Artie--he has been neglected a bit.
Have to update his log
throw the trash out...
Write out a card.
A few phone calls.
Just another lazy day around here.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
well I got a few things done this weekend.

Dusted the ceiling fan-made Jon hold the chair I was standing on-then he got mad cause the dust was falling on him-I was trying to keep it away from him.
Cleared off one garden of dead crap-stuff already coming up
Vacuumed the hallway where the catbox is-they keep making a big mess. (I tried moving box to another room-nope one of them will just hold it)

Today is walking at lunch day, then take Jon to get his script- then cook the food I bought yesterday. No time for gym today.

  1. Beautiful day. Got all my summer clothes out & put away winter clobber. Hooray!
  2. Dropped off my final batch of winter clothes for dry cleaning. All clothes hereon in are washable.
  3. Bought a lottery ticket from corner store. Sweet little black kid in the store. Asked his father if I could buy him something from the ice cream freezer. Dad said yes. Kid said thanks.

i ended up adding more to today's 'to do' list -- mowed the lawn today, pre-measured for a second batch of granola (will make 2 batches later this week, then seal them in vacuum sealer bags -- will be for this summer), reorganized in the upright freezers, and completed a small project with some lumber. i also assessed the space i have in the mini barn and if/how i'll store the snow blower attachment leaving space to park the lawn tractor there too. it can be done, and i'll set aside a day to reorganize the mini barn contents, disattach the snow blower from my lawn tractor, attach the mower deck, and possibly mow the lawn.

Nice and sunny here this morning. Looks like a nice day shaping up. I'll take it.

This morning, when Rick's cell phone alarm rang, we lay there for a couple minutes. Rick said, "I understand why people retire." I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that day is coming soon for him. He is going to start collecting SS in June. I wish he would retire; he's worked a long time and I'd like to see him relax for a while. (I keep thinking of our friends; he waited so long to retire because his wife kept wanting him to work to buy this, to buy that, to do this, to do that. He was finally able to retire last year and now he has Alzheimer's. It's heartbreaking. He was one of the hardest-working men I've ever known and now that he can finally retire and enjoy some of his life, he can't remember sometimes how to find his way up the steps from the basement to the kitchen. Honestly, I would be fine if Rick retired today. I wish he would.)

So anyway....
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, scooped the boxes, took the recycling to the basement, made the bed, some general clean-up, etc.
  • I have to go out to the garage during lunch today and pay the guy for picking up Clarence at the house the other week. He finally called me yesterday and told me how much I owe and I want to get him paid. He told me not to worry about it, that whenever was good enough, but I want to get it done. I hate owing people money.
  • Planning Commission meeting tonight. We have two plans to review and both of them have some problems, so it's going to be a long one.
  • Go home and crash. I'm getting to the point where I don't even turn the computer on anymore when I get home from work.
