She does need to be spayed.

I gave you this link for a low-cost clinic back in September. Here it is again:

http://www.humanesocietyhbg.org/low-cost-voucher-clinics

The cat spay is only $65 at this clinic.

Mama kitty's kitten died suddenly in November. It's now February. Another pregnancy is not healthy for mom, plus there are way too many unwanted kittens and cats as it is. If you want another kitten you could adopt one from a shelter. Shelter kittens are usually fully vetted and fixed.

She does feel pregnant though. What if she is and I spay her?

The pregnancy would be terminated when she is spayed if there is indeed a pregnancy.

Exactly. You would terminate the pregnancy. If she is early on, the procedure is no differently surgically.

I'm personally against terminating the kittens.  But she's your cat so it's up to you.  I disagree with abortion for any species but that's a political matter and this isn't the thread for that.  But if you do decide to let this pregnancy continue (if she is pregnant), you should get her spayed immediately after the kittens are born.  I think.  Spaying won't mess with her milk, will it?  Either way, you should get her to a vet right away and find out.

I think at this point it's about the health of the mother, who could potentially be having her third litter of the year, and also about the health of the kittens.

Yeah I'm also against abortion. I'll just trust everything will be okay.

Please follow up on the link I gave you. Call and see how far in advance to book your cat's appointment, so you are all set for getting her spayed after this litter. Put aside the money so it's not an issue when the time comes, and keep her inside and away from intact males at all times until then. Can you do this?

If money is really tight for you and you can't afford any vet bills, don't be afraid to ask for help.  Check your local pet pages on facebook.  Join a few and see how they act towards your situation.  Then tell them your situation and ask for help.  You may be surprised how many people will offer help with the vet bills just to keep the momma healthy and safe.  Even if you decide not to terminate the pregnancy, if there is one, they can help get her the care she needs.  Especially after so many unsuccessful pregnancies.

This happened to a person in our area, she chose a vet, and so many wonderful people paid $5 to $10 to the vet in her name.  Ultimately, she had enough of a credit with that vet to care for her cat for over a year.  People are amazingly helpful and giving in this way, they just need to know about it.  And yes, $5 or $10 doesn't seem like much, but with a couple of hundred people donating that much, it was all that was needed.

It's worth a try just to know that momma will stay healthy and happy, and babies, too, if she is pregnant again.  And much better than risking losing all of them.

I hope this helps.

I can't tell from the picture. Some cats just look pregnant. I am very concerned about what happened to her last kitten. Mom may have some type of parasite or virus and passed it along to the kitten. Even if mom isn't showing signs of illness doesn't mean she doesn't have something that would kill a young kitten, but not her. Has your cat ever received worming medicine? This is a must! Even for cats that are indoor. Please find a way to bring this cat to a vet. Maybe that low-cost spay/neuter place will have a payment plan?  Breeding cats is usually a very expensive hobby because it cost a lot to properly Vet all the cats and kittens. Especially when something goes wrong and Mom and/or kittens become ill. Some cats even need C-sections. So please get her fixed ASAP and bring her ti the Vet no matter what happens.

It also could be a pyometra... an infected uterus. Which could happen from the back to back litters of kittens... I would say get her to a vet if you can!

why does her stomach look like this? I'm getting worried. I finally got the money for a vet trip soon so I'm happy about that.
