Hi @2Cats4everLoved  !

I've since upgraded to 75 gal tank with a 30 gal sump. I use a protein skimmer- no canisters. It is said canister filters are nitrate factories for a salt water tank. If you have a fresh water, I am not sure which would be good.
Thanks for getting back to me @Draco  - My mind was going to explode with research yesterday, I love my Penn Plax and of course like many other Great things, they don't really make them anymore to sell in stores and I didn't want to risk having it cracked during shipping.

I wish I could upgrade to a larger tank for my sharks, my oldest is turning 26 this summer and his mates are going on 17 years next month, they are all almost 1 ft.  Any other fish in the tank at this point would be "food". LOL  I love the clown loaches with them but I fear they'd be eaten.

I would love to see pictures of your tank, not sure if you posted any new ones.

Thanks again for the speedy response.

btw, I joined two fish forums yesterday out of desperation and no one responded...  just goes to show, Cat People Rule!!!!  LOL

Take care.

Which fish forum did you join? I know Fishlore can be dead in the saltwater section.

Sharks must be exciting to care for, what size tank do you have for them?

fishlore was one, and they were okay after I got a live person.  But with my eyes, in truth after being on this site which is easy to get around, it proved to be frustrating for me.  The other was monsterfishkeepers and today someone got back to me.

I may take more time to poke around.  I went to my local mom and pop store for the filter, I've been going there for 20 years, I'm in Queens, and the local subway east bound is shut, so I had to go back towards Manhattan and take an express back, took me an hour.  If it wasn't so icy I would have walked.  When I got there they had it set aside for me, then told me they don't accept 100's.  I was so insulted after all they know me.

I just got back home and will do more research and go to Petland Discount or Petco tomorrow, then I'll get to see the kitties, perhaps I'll come home with a cat as well. LOL

I have a 55 gallon for them.  It's the type that's shorter but longer (if that makes sense)  They are great, although I only have one rock and some shrubs, but they'r so big, they need the space.

They're very caring of one another, last month one flipped out and banged himself up so much he turned white, and flipped upside down, I thought he was going to die, I was ready to take him out and put him on ice, then the other two came over to him, one on the bottom and the other on top and they flipped him and stayed with him until he came to.  I took a video of part of the rescue.

They are the Iridescent Sharks aka catfish family, but they are sweet, skittish but sweet, I keep a floating plant in the tank to keep them calm.  I also just started feeding them beef hearts.

Never in a million years did I think I'd have him 26 years later. LOL  Or feed beef to fish.  But they are great to look at.  I find myself watching them more than the tv.

Anywho, I'm going to do more research, as it turned out, the filter I wanted doesn't come with a spray bar.

Sorry for the long winded post.

Thanks for listening to my Fish Tales.

Be well.

I'll post some.  I'm still in filter hell.  I think my best bet is to go to the store and see in person.  Researching on the internet can be mind boggling.

Thanks again.

You too, post new ones.

And I can't believe you got bit.  That's my fear now.
