Trying to find a high quality, not-too-outrageously-priced omega 3 for Malý and Hezký.

Recommendations?

Would prefer powder because it'd be easier to sneak into their food. They do not like seafood! [Silly kitties]

Hare Today's confuses me! https://hare-today.com/product/other/green_lipped_mussel_powder

Isn't the GLM in place of fish oil?

2000 mg of GLM [approximate 1 level teaspoon] contains 71.4 mg Omega-3 fatty acid (EPA / DHA) The recommended dosage of omega-3 for dogs and cats varies by weight. For every 30 pounds of body weight, give 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined. If feeding GLM at 1 teaspoon per day you would also feed fish oil and offset the dosage of the fish oil by 71.4 mg.

EDIT: Wouldn't that be like 2 teaspoons for an 11 pound cat? That's an awful lot of powder to try to hide . . .

I've never used it. but I've heard good things about it. It's likely higher quality GLM than you can get most other places.

A lot of good high quality wet foods have GLM oil. ZiwiPeak, Feline Naturals, Koha, RedBarn, and more.

Ive only heard hold things about so its always a win for me to see it on the label. It's a natural anti inflammatory that helps with hip and joint issues.

:yeah:
This is something that I've considered getting for my cats, but haven't as yet for various reasons including budget. I used to cat sit a cat who got this in her food, and she loved it. It has quite a strong smell (a yummy smell to me!) and the certainly liked it. I wonder if this product smells strongly, and given your cats don't like seafood they may be put off it. Just a thought I'm throwing out there.

I tried it, and it definitely has a very strong smell! Unfortunately for me, my cat can smell even the tiniest pinch of it in his food and will refuse to touch it. He totally hates it. Now I'm stick using the $30 bottles of unscented omega 3 oil from the vet's...

Dinosnores - That's exactly what I needed to know. I can fool  Hezký once in a while - but never Malý!

What brand is the kind you get from your vet? That's kinda pricey, but if it helped Malý's seizures, it'd be worth it.

This is the exact one: http://vrshealth.com/feline-products/feline-omega-benefits/

It really does have no smell and if I take time to mix it into his wet food, Spooky can't even tell it's there. I keep it in the fridge and since he's only on 1/2 pump per day, one bottle lasts a few months.

ps. I know you told me how long one bottle lasted for you - but it didn't register at first.

It's at least  twice the size of the ones I'd been looking at.

So it works out that it will be a 3+ month supply - for both kids - for $33. THAT is a good deal!

Thank you for the recommendation - I'll let you know what Malý says about it in a few days.
