Micky has an appointment with the vet tomorrow morning at 9.  She said they'll just send me extra worm meds for Connor and Murphy so I won't have to bring them all 3 in - thank God!

They're all getting along.  They don't really snuggle with Mickey much, but they all play together and there's no more growling and hissing.  I was really surprised by how fast my boys accepted a new cat.

Mickey picked up weight very quickly - he doesn't look half starved anymore.  He's seemed to realize that the food is always going to be here, too.  He doesn't inhale his food anymore and he doesn't lick all 3 bowls clean.  He even leaves a little bit in his bowl.  It all gets eaten within the next hour or so, but I'm glad he isn't frantic for food anymore.

I was just wondering the other day how Mickey was doing [emoji]128522[/emoji]! His story has captured my heart. I'm so glad that Connor and Murphy have accepted him so easily (snuggling will come in time) as Mickey clearly needed the wonderful home you are giving him. Poor dear....
I'm hoping the trip to the vet goes smoothly [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

He stole our hearts, too.  My step-daughter came back yesterday (50/50 custody arrangement) and she's absolutely in love with him, too.  She's 3 and it's so cute when she's snuggling him and saying "he's so fluffy!"  Connor and Murphy adore her, too.  They take turns sleeping with her at night.  I'm wondering if Mickey will join in the rotation now.  LOL

Just got back from the vet.  He says Mickey is nice and healthy.  He gave him his shots and wormed him and sent me home with worm pills for Connor and Murphy.  And Mickey has an appointment to get neutered Monday morning.

So, what's the best way to give a pill to a cat?  I'm hoping I can worm Connor and Murphy without losing half of my hand.

That's good to hear that Mickey is in the pink of health.
You ask me, best way to pill a cat is crush it to powder form and mix with a small amount of food like 2 mouthfuls and see they finish the food before adding the rest of the food. Otherwise if you mix it with the whole amount of food and they dislike the taste, they won't eat and the medication is wasted a dose. I find this way no stress to the cat. No need to catch and force open mouth and struggle and lastly, spit out the pill.
But you can try giving them by mouth. January will spit the pill out [emoji]128540[/emoji]

The only store we have is Wal*Mart.  I've never seen anything like that there.

Well, the deed is done and it was a lot easier than I expected.  I had to pick up a refill at the pharmacy and got an order of biscuits and gravy at McDonald's because I was hungry and didn't want to make anything when I got home.  The boys were sniffing at it, so on a whim, I dipped a pill in the leftover gravy and popped it in Connor's mouth.  He swallowed it with no problem.  Same with Murphy.  I'm gonna remember this if I ever have to give them meds again.

That photo made me a little teary (in a good way!). What a gem Mickey is....he is so trusting and loving with humans despite the neglect he suffered at the hands of his pervious owners. Mickey clearly knows he is safe and loved. Probably for the first time in his life. Thank you for giving this sweet soul the kind of home and life he deserves
