This is the stray that I think has been living here for some time. I coaxed her out and got her to eat a few weeks ago and then noticed she was full of kittens. My first instinct was to simply spay her. This has been a long sad year I couldn't do it.  Two days ago Tera gave birth to 6 kittens. I finally found them and put her and the babies in the big crate , it's outside. 4 of the babies were stuck together. They seemed not well formed and I couldn't get them apart. Neither could mom. The kind people at the animals shelter sent them on ahead to join all the other little baby kitties that never get a chance to live. So the plan is to let them stay with mama for at least 4 weeks before bringing them in and then getting Tera fixed. I hope to find her a home but she's welcome to my yard and I'll build her a safe haven. Mook is simply NOT going to tolerate this cat inside.

Poor poor kitty.  She looks so tired and overwhelmed but relieved to have someone help her.  I've never heard of kittens being stuck.

Good luck with this sweet girl.

Kitten balls aren't common but not rare either. There was something going on beyond poo and placenta. It seemed kinder to euthanize them before they suffered. Our shelter would have taken Tera and all the kittens but there was no guarantee she wouldn't be euthanized along with her kittens.  I frontlined her last week and managed to get revolution on her early this week. There was no way we could afford the vet bills for those 4 babies and there is no foster system here I guess. We can manage to get mama fixed and home the babies. One will likely come in. I hope to home Tera but she's very outside savvy so she may outside here. I don't think I can get Mook to accept an adult cat.

Wow, what a tough spot.  You have a big heart.  I would end up keeping them all. LOL

There aren't any no kill shelters you way, that's sad.  Well one this is sure, mama kitty is definitely thankful you're helping out.  The poor girl looks completely exhausted.  Her eyes look so golden.

Please keep me posted, I would love to learn more about her.

I was so hoping to get them into a foster situation. Scary there is nothing here.  The 4 little souls sting horribly. Thank you to @Mamanyt1953  for letting me cry on her shoulder so I could muster up the strength to drive home from the shelter. Sometime you need a kind voice. It took me two days to find the babies.

She is an excellent mother. I'll see what I can find locally to up her square footage. Right now she has food water and litter box and her and her babies are safe.  Can 6 of FF just vanished into her. Now instead of being focused on the 4 that were somehow intertwined she is devoted to the other two who are going at her nipples like crazy. They have full tummies. Husband was already plotting behind my back to keep one. I'm in love with Tera. I really hope to find her an indoor situation. She is so sweet and trusting.

Darlin, that's what I have shoulders for.  Goddess bless you for taking such care of Tera and ALL of her kittens,  Sometimes the best care we can give is a gentle end.  And don't we know that all too well?
I wanted to take their picture but it was such a sad horrible mess. 4 little souls that were at least loved , they rode to the shelter on my lap.

I have Tera and the babies snugged in. they are certainly in a warmer better spot than the first 2 days of their life. I would love to just bring them in. I hate that someone else's negligence has put us in this position. If the weather takes a bad turn I will drag the crate in and just deal with it. I am afraid of making my Mooky sick. she gets sick when stressed. She is such a good mama keeping the close to her. I will feed her again at 11pm that will make 8 cans of FF today.

Thank you for giving sweet Tera and her babies the warmth, food, shelter and LOVE they so need. You are saving their lives. They have a future now because of your love and compassion.

And thank you for making sure those four little lost ones were loved and eased from their suffering even though it took such a toll on you. My heart breaks for you, Tera and her babies.

Please keep us posted on how the little family is doing.

Here's hoping we still have two healthy babies in the morning. I figure getting them through the first 24 is our first milestone. I'm putting their birthdate as Sept 1 as that will simply make tracking their age easier. Tomorrow they will be 3 days old. to my  not expert eyes they appear to be thriving. Tera is taking the crate well. I would love to let her out for a while. Of course if I did something would happen to her. Murphy's law. She's safe in the crate and I'll try and upgrade her living situation.

Slight update. 7.5 cans of FF. I can't leave it in her crate overnight. No food outdoors allowed AND she used the litter box. The babies seem happy and thriving. Mom just purred up a storm when I gave her loves. I really really hope I can find her a person.

This is a great story.  You could see the Mommy is so grateful for you helping her.  Even in just that one photo, her eyes express trust and comfort.  You're the best.

Would love more pictures of this family, if she allows.

This is great.  Love the direction this story is headed for this little family.

Can't wait to learn more of their development.  YAY!!!!

Thank you for all you are doing to help her @Kittens Mom  Poor little babies who didn't make it. It's much better that they were helped to pass quickly than struggling on their own. I know it must have been a heartbreaking decision for you to make. Thank you for making it easier on them.

The two kittens in the picture look great, quite big for two days old. Vibes for thriving kittens and a healthy mother.

@Norachan  I swear I can see these two little buttons growing. I don't have a scale. Mom's nipples are healthy and pink and have a bit of milk on them after the babies feed. I avoid excess handling of the babies at this point Tera is an excellent mother and keeps them tucked up against her or between her front paws at all times. I'm going to pick up some formula today for the just in case. We bought a secondary formula for kittens when we raised Mook that was more solid and to be eaten out of a bowl. I sure would like to find that again. Realistically we'll have to take the kits at 4 weeks so Mom can be spayed. I wish we had a better set up. At that point the kits will come in and spend the next 8 weeks being human socialized. If there was only 1 kitten I'd probably wait another 2 weeks and the bottle feed and have her fixed. Since these two have a chance to grow with a littermate I'll extend their time with mom as much as possible.

The babies are healthy and active but not overly so. They nurse and sleep , nurse and sleep. If one cries mom attends right away. I approach the next few weeks with fear and anticipation.

More pictures later.

So there they are. I now have a day cage that is in direct eye line from my desk. I sat it up on two over turned hay tubs. They'll still go into the big crate that is much easier to insulate and safer by the front door at night. And Tera can stand up and stretch and even jump on the misshapen hut if she wants to. Tomorrow fixing some of the safety issues and getting a roof on. I picked up an emergency baby kit. I already have honey and pedialite. Tera is a real trooper and just lets me move her and the babies about..

At three days both of them are pushing up on their front legs and rolling about. The idea is after Tera is fixed this big wire cage will go in our living room and house the babies inside. I take the screen off when there is no wiggle through chance. The tray fit loose so I made a baby bumper out of pipe insulation.

Of course they rode to the shelter in your lap.  That's who you are.

I am so glad the remaining two are doing well, and that Tera is such a love-bug.  It will make finding her a home easier.

Not gonna lie, I got more than a little choked up at seeing all you have done to give Tera and her kits some comfort and safety. What a beautiful thing [emoji]10084[/emoji]️. Tera obviously trusts you to take good care of her little ones. Have you settled on names for the babies?

Awww don't cry this is something good happening. The babies made it another 24 and mom is so accepting of being kept confined. One cat will be relieved of the curse of one litter after another and two little ones will never know hardship. We have feelers out for potential homes for Tera and one of the babies. like minded souls that take care of their pets.
