I think electrolyte imbalances and some minerals can cause tremors. Which would not be surprising considering what he has been through.
What can I do for Mukkia If that is the culprit for these episodes? It does not sound like it is something hard to reverse. Am I correct?

I am not a vet. Certainly not a cat specialist. I do know with other animals imbalances can cause tremor or seizure. If Mukkia is still exhibiting signs you might want to call the vet and ask those kind of questions. Healing often has it's own hurdles. His loss of muscle and coordination to jump into a favorite window is a good example.

Low stress

Good Food

Low stress

Plenty of water

Low stress

You are the conductor. Make life normal for him. And you. He's thin falling might have bruised or sprained something. Sometimes the more normal you treat a pet the more normal they act.

Yes!!!!! I agree!!! :-) Once I made the decision to leave Mukkia alone and not give him ANY medicine to see if he would come around and begin to eat on his own, he did! With that came less stress, back to a sense of normalcy for the both of us! So, I could not agree anymore. The vet thinks his fall yesterday probably caused him to twist his spine and then led to inflammation of the nerves. He said if that is the case it will resolve itself. However, you have a very valid point as well. Mukkia has definitely lost muscle mass since this all began. I can see it especially on the quarters of his hind outer legs. As they are sunk in. I do not know if cats are the same as humans in this situation , but I know that it is much harder for us to gain muscle once it is lost. I'm not saying that it cannot happen I'm just saying it is harder and it takes longer. I am curious to know if that would be the same for Mukkia?

High protein diet , as approved by vet and encouraging him to move about. Gently.

The most critical time with a starved rescue horse was the first week where we had to get all the systems up and running. and hand walking. What burn calories you hiss !!! You want muscle not fat. So I would ask the vet the best diet and regimen to help him achieve not only a good body weight but a healthy one. Slow weight gain with muscle is always better than the fatted calf.

Understand I am not talking about aerobic exercise but gentle movements.

If you haven't followed the thread Kiitten that can't move you might get a lot of good advice for Jennyroselee ?

im curious if low potassium cause some of the wobbly type behavior? I think once you get him eating regular that should clear up. poor dear..i like what kittens mom said...she is 100% right..i know I have had to do this for my cats when sick..they feed off our anxiety..i had to actually sit on my hands and ignore her..she came around a few days later...as long as vitals are good then it will take time...as long as he is pee/poo/eat/drink/walking around sniffing things and purring then that's the best thing. Just like people sometimes they need to get some rest...hoping tonight is less stressful for you.

I understand what you mean. I am supposed to stop by the vet's office to pick up some more probiotics for him either today or tomorrow. Being that it is already almost time for them to close I don't think I'm going to be able to do it today. So tomorrow morning I will pick some up for him and ask about the diet. You said the same thing my mother did as far as his weight gain process. Slow is better than fast. So, I am with you on this point too. I have not followed the thread you mentioned, but I will check it out. I moved his hammock that he can easily climb up on over to the other window for him. So, now he can still enjoy doing that and not get injured by trying to anymore. I honestly appreciate you always helping me and giving amazing advice and support! I wish there was another way on the site to show this along with the purraise.

I am not sure about the potassium, because on his last test everything was normal, and that was part of the blood work. He has been eating normal amounts of food consistently for a little over a week. Let's just hope that it's a small injury that will resolve itself. I am completely on board with the stress factor, I recognize the difference myself. I'll have to figure out how I can exercise Mukkia without causing injury until he is completely one-hundred-percent again.

I just briefly looked through the thread that you mentioned to me, and I see why you suggested it. I don't have any more time today to go back through it but I'm pretty much free all day tomorrow. So, I will look through it and see what I can find out along with speaking to the veterinarian when I pick up the probiotics. Thank you! :-)

I'm so happy for you and your precious Mukkia.  Very handsome kitty, by the way.  I'm just reading your journey and finding it truly inspirational. It's amazing how much love we develop for our furry little felines.  Cat's are such special creatures. I wish for you joy and the very best as you continue your journey.

So glad!!! My elderly kitty still plays..she loves milk bottle rings-she twirls around the kitchen floor flicking it all over the place :):lol3:

That is so amazing! Doesn't it just warm your heart to see that much life in her? :-D Mukkia loves his mice. He always has! I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I don't know what a milk ring is. :-) :-)

Oh my goodness, that is so kind of you to say! :-) Thank you! We have been though a lot since the end of January. It has been a tough emotional rollercoaster! Yes, he is my heart, and my child! There is not a thing I wouldn't do for him! I remember when he had struvite crystals. I read somewhere something about rabbit carcasses back then. I don't recall what was beneficial about it, but I just remember telling my mother that she needed to slaughter a rabbit for him. Lol I couldn't do it, because I love all animals. You can only imagine how that conversation went. It was actually quite comical. Although, my mother did not think it was comical at all! LOL. That just goes to show my love for him. He is my lullaby, I literally cannot go to sleep until I feel him laying on my side at night. That is where he sleeps on me. When he was a kitten he used to fall asleep on my chest. That was such a warm and bonding feeling that I can never put into words. he is definitely more than just an animal to me he has an amazing personality, and he is so full of life. Every time he has a bowel movement I feel happy, because I know that things are working properly. At the same time, I feel sad, because that is when I can truly see how skinny he still is. I'm trying very hard to listen to everyone and know that slower is better, but I just want to see him as the chubby face cat that I know he was. All in time, he will get there. That's what I continue to tell myself.

2Cats4everLoved 2Cats4everLoved ,Thank you for the purraise! I read your comment with it. I am so sorry to hear that! :-( I don't have anything I have to do today, so I am going to read your thread. I also wanted to read another one too. Mukkia is tired out and sleeping in his hammock that I moved to one of his favorite windows for him.
