Moving my cats food bowl

Hello,

If I move my cats food from where it has been to a location higher up will he find it?? A family member is telling me no but I feel it's ridiculous to think a cat won't instinctively find his food and water. It's going to be out in the open and easy to access, just going to be a different location. Maybe about 15 feet from current location. Thanks guys

He will be able to smell where his food is placed.  Cats sense of smell is at least 10 times stronger than ours.  Unless the cat is old this should not be a problem.

I have a related question.  When we first got Foxy, a stray, we had to keep her separated from our other cat for 2 weeks.  I set up her food and litter box in our wood-stove room which is long and narrow - food and water at one end and litter box at the other.  Now it's been over 2 months and I'd like to move her bowls into the kitchen area which is 3 rooms away.  Would it be better to move them straight into the kitchen or move them by increments of 1 room at a time?  I can see the pros of doing it both ways and don't know which is best.  Thanks in advance for your help

You can just move the bowl to where you want it. Show the cat where the bowls are so she knows where they are. It may take her a day or so to learn the new location.
