A Malfoy and her cat - her first hour in Hogwarts.
”Malfoy Luciferra!”! A slim and lithe and yet muscled girl went forward and put the Sorting Hat on her. The Hat was quiet an unusually long moment. But so at last it shouted: “Hufflepuff!” The girl, visibly bewildered, began to go forward to the Slytherin table, and firstly halfway there, she slowly turned towards the Hufflepuff table. All students in the big hall were as in shock. Many whispered eagerly with each other, many pointed with fingers. But so Felicia, the first prefect of the Hufflepuff House, rose and stood up, and gave a strong long applaude. After her there come more applaudes from some of the others Hufflepuffs. But many Slyterins whistled, and you could hear lots of asking and mocking shouts from that table.
Felicia pointed to an yet unoccupied seat beside her, put her arm over Luciferras shoulders, smiled warmthly and said ”Welcome Luciferra”. “You are probably the first Malfoy ever, who isn’t sorted into the Slyterin House. But everyone are welcome to Hufflepuff, so be welcome you too!”. “And you shall know, you are doubly so welcome. I believe your animus, your animal companion is a cat, a Russian Blue cat, correct?” “You see, one of our House Ghosts is invisible. He is really quite friendly, and doesn’t make much trouble, but he loves to make some practical jokes now and then. Our best defence against him are these of our companion animals who are cats. These are the only ones who do see him and can forewarn us.”
Several other of the boys and girls around gave their nods and smiles.
From other side of the table a boy from the third year leaned forward to her, smiled and said “Hello, Im Abraham, mine animus too is a cat, a British shorthair. I do hope they will be good pals our cats.” He said friendly. “But, Luciferra. The Sorting Hat was occupied unusually long with you. What did it said to you? Please tell us, we are several here who are dying from sheer curiosity!”
”Call me Lucy, please, I beg you. Oh yes, the Hat didnt said anything much at all. Really, it asked me only why I begged my dad to switch our newly bought animuses, so I could get his new animus, the Russian Blue stud Ivan Grozny the Terrible. And he got instead my new beautiful owl. Although I had always wished and dreamed to get an own owl!?? But you see. My dad he cant nothing about cats. He buyed Ivan because he looks mean, even cruel, as he is a Russian Blue male from Scandinavia. Daddy thought such an animus would suit him perfectly to his image he wants to have. But I do know animals, and I can cats. Russian Blue males they just are looking somewhat cruel. But they are really very kind, friendly and they are cautious. And also a little shy to unknown people. Ivan would get a miserable life with daddy. But I couldn’t tell this to daddy. So it was just to say goodbye to the owl, and I begged daddy to give me Ivan instead. But its OK, I do not regret the switch, not any longer. I become very fond of Ivan, and now we are liking each other very much, Ivan and me.”
“That is what I told to the Sorting Hat. But why the Hat sorted me into the Hufflepuff House, this I don’t really have the slightest idea about!”.
