Morning everyone at the cat community. I'm new here and would like to introduce my 2 cents of feline experience...My husband and I are currently owned by 16 spoiled felines, ladies and gents, all neutered and spayed (except for the young kittens of course). We have a TERRIFIC, skilled, dedicated and loving vet!!!! Our latest arrival is Sir Muffins, red, about 3 1/2 months old, still needs his 2nd vaccination. Before him we took in the identical twins Max and Moritz (these 2 are having it out with each other as I type and one (can't tell which) just "flew" to the top of the PC screen and almost knocked it over..
) and there's also red Commissario Brunetti - the 4 are the best of friends, fight, play and cuddle all day long. I'll ask my husband to take a few pictures so you can see what they all look like. Though all cats have enough room and there's a garden around the house they can spend time in - we know we have absolutely reached our limits!!! We can't take in any more kittens or cats but we're both unable to resist, we both feel HORRIBLE if we try ignoring them... the local shelters are full to the top and hardly the best places to send some poor kitten to...

How do you deal with that? Care to share?? Thanks much for reading this, have a great day

I LOVE IT and I do understand!! I feel if you are getting them vetted and you clean up after them then how many doesn't matter!!
I say there's a difference between animal lovers and animal hoarders!! Hoarders don't take their felines to a vet. They think they're doing a service but their animals are usually sick and their homes are filthy. A animal lover does look after their felines. They clean the messes and take the felines to a vet!!
As long as you can handle it then no problem. I know it's hard to turn away a feline in need but you can't possibly save everyone!! That's why TNR is a great program!! God bless you for all you do!! Good luck with your large family!!

Hi and welcome to the site :)

Wow, 16 spoiled felines? I have seven spoiled felines and have a hard time managing sometimes! I think you deserve a medal! ^_^

Thank you Kagami!

yes...  we don't have kids so we love and spoil them to pieces!!! I always say that at least I don't have to worry about sending them to college etc. 16 cats and 16 different personalities, i love to watch them play or just doing their act... Amy (after Amy Winehouse) loves tomatoes both cherry and regular ones. I must cut them in small pieces and she'll just chomp them away...  Rivkah demands cream cheese and mostly won't eat unless she's patted before and told how great she is... she'll remain seated where she is and expect me to bring her plate to her... which of course i do...  we both sit with our backsides almost in the air if our chairs are occupied... we wouldn't dream of chasing them away... yes, well - i could go on and on so i'd better stop now

Aww, that's so awesome, that they all have their own personalities ^_^ I was just thinking, it must be so chaotic over there at feeding time!

actually it isn't chaotic at all as they have bowls with food at all times. we feed them dry food so it isn't that messy and doesn't smell at all. It gets wild though at Fancy Feast or tuna time....  and speaking of personalities... it's rainy and chilly here now so why would cats DEMAND to go out in this weather is a mystery to me....

Ouiser- Welcome! Delighted to have you. 16 kitties? Wow, good for you ! I have 3 and my husband calls that the limit. I am not sure why as I used to have 2 cats and 2 dogs.We have 4 kids and only 1 left at home. I could handle more cats. I think 5 would be good. I am sure one day a cat will turn up here and I will take him/her in. My husband won't be shocked and since he does like cats and I do take great care of them ( if I do say so myself) I don't see the point in an arbitrary number limiting your family. Some people I know treat me as though I had a ' problem' just because I have three cats. I have reached the point in my life where I do not care what they think. The cats are happy and healthy , my home is clean , the bills are paid etc.I have been thinking about getting involved in TNR because I think that is where I can do the most good. By the way, I am a huge Amy Winehouse fan!

Thank you Maureen!!!

Should my husband have a word with yours???

I just managed to catch Sir Muffins - the little guy slipped through when I entered the house... it's all muddy and slippery outside but i finally got hold of him... i don't want him to romp outside yet, he's too tiny!!

As for other people... yes, i must admit that we don't socialize much (which is an understatement...) so many people don't have much left for pets or regard them as a "must have" addition to the house like furniture and the like... my husband always says i shouldn't tell people how many we have as they'll think we live in pigsty, are smelly and messy... but like you, we too have a clean house, the cats are happy and taken care of. We even have a wonderful taxi driver who'll pick up whoever has a vet appointment  and bring them back home too (we don't own a car). As I mentioned already we have a really terrific vet we can call anytime, she's been treating our tribe for almost 9 years now. We went through real tough times together - about 3 years ago we had a FIP epidemic in the region and we lost about 12 cats!!!! It was horrible to see them all succumbing to this horrible plague. I didn't even know something like that existed!!!! When some of the females started having big bellies i thought they were pregnant which couldn't be of course...

Yes, I love Amy Winehouse too!!! What a talented person and what a great voice!!! Unfortunately I only became "aware" of her after she died - I don't belong to the youngest generation and I always thought she was some kind of shmaltzy country singer
Now I open all windows when I'm working in the garden and turn her on real loud. Now I got to see that all bowls are filled and they haven't broken or knocked something over...Greetings to San Jose

Thank you Anne!!! I'm sure I will!!

So sorry about gorgeous Romeo and MishMish, what happened to them???

Have you kept the

rescue kittens? They're so beautiful!!!!  I have a problem with the photos here.... sorry for the mess... Above are Max and Moritz the identical twins, about 5 months now and below is Amy as a baby... I always say we should have called her Albert(a) after Einstein... she's really so smart!!!! Unbelievable!!!! But I read that tricolors or calicos are supposed to be extremely smart
