Well, I have my two brothers Steve and Paul. They share a window, but when Paul is in the window, Steve feels like he can just jump up there anytime and knock Paul away. He'll hiss too. But when Steve is in the window, Paul wouldn't ever attempt to try to jump up there.  It's awesome, it's in our basement so it's ground level with a really thick protective screen, and I put bird seed right outside so they are right next to the birds! And the birds (squirrels and bunnies too) can't see in the screen at the cats since it's a double dark thick screen. It's like you can see out good, but not in well. :)

How can I get my Steve to quit bullying Paul? They love each other, sleep and play and clean each other. But there are times when Steve (who is a couple pounds bigger) will just be a 'boss' and rule the rooster. It makes me feel so bad for Paul, which in turn I'll baby and maybe that makes Steve more jealous?

Does Paul seem bothered by this or does it really just bother you? I don't mean for that to sound patronizing at all but to me this just sounds like 2 normal cats with something of a pecking order.

One possible solution I can think of off the top of my head would be adding a cat tree next to the window. They could potentially be on different levels but still both see out the window, or one could be on it and one could be on the window ledge.

Good luck!

I have to agree with tulosai here- even though it may seem like Steve is bullying Paul from our perspective everything else you have said about them makes it sound like they are just engaging in typical cat hierarchy antics. They actually sound like they are very bonded and this is just one area where Steve likes to remind his brother of who the alpha is- if it really ever bothers Paul he will likely snap back!

The only reason I would be concerned is if you notice a difference in Paul's behavior or demeanor. Does he ever act fearful or extremely stressed around Steve?  It may manifest as him not eating, having litterbox issues, or even just in his physical behavior around Steve (cowering, tucking in his tail, avoiding Steve, ect). If so then it is worth addressing, otherwise, just let the boys be boys and work it out on their own!

That said, I also agree that adding a cat tree next to the window is a fabulous idea. It will allow for simultaneous access and is enriching because they would have different viewpoints based on where they sit. And, it will give you peace of mind that all is okay between them!
