If you think you understand what a cat with special needs is like, prepare to be amazed.

Little's Journey: From Bright Lights to Complete Darkness

Discovering a Special Need

Little came into my life full of energy and joy. He was my second foster failure, and I quickly fell in love. At around 5 months old, something began to change.

I noticed he could only see bright lights. Gradually, he became completely blind.

Unnoticed and Unhindered

Little's blindness didn't slow him down one bit. He moved with such grace and ease that it took me months to realize he couldn't see.

I had another kitten at the time, and I was comparing their vision because of a suspected eye injury. That's when it hit me - Little was blind.

A Surprising Realization

What a surprise this was! They were the same age, so I assumed their vision would be similar. But Little was different, and it didn't bother him in the slightest. His zest for life remained untouched by his loss of sight.

Little's Life Without Sight: A Completely Blind Cat with Vision

Coming to Terms with Little's Blindness

I was devastated and upset for quite a while, thinking I had failed him by not figuring it out and angry that none of his vet visits or rescue group had caught on either. But Little didn't care one bit.

He was still hell on paws. At least now I knew why he had so much trouble jumping on the bed when he was smaller. And why he attacked my hand when I tried to pet him sometimes. I was startling him without knowing it.

Learning to Communicate

I learned to adapt. Now, I rub my fingers near his head before petting him. He knows this signal and leans in, ready for love.

Living Life to the Fullest

Little does everything seeing cats do. He runs and plays, chases his cat mates, and he LOVES to climb as high as he can go. Sometimes he climbs the stucco porch walls.

He bumps into the other cats and occasionally walks into a wall but he keeps right ongoing. Also, he can catch his tinsel wand in mid-air as well as anyone. He recently started flushing the toilet for kicks.

Navigating the World: Little's Unseen Abilities

Adapting the Home Environment

Little knows his surroundings well. I've arranged the furniture to accommodate him. He can access all the places the other pets can. I introduce new changes slowly, ensuring he's comfortable.

When he's exploring new heights, I guide him. If he's uncertain about jumping down, I tap the floor. He knows where it's safe to land. He's a quick learner, often picking up cues from the other pets' behavior.

The Unbelievable Reality: Little's Perception

People often don't believe Little is blind. They see him move with such confidence that his lack of sight seems impossible. But the truth is, Little doesn't believe he's blind either.

Embracing the Unseen: Little's Legacy

Little's life is not just a story of a completely blind cat but a lesson in embracing life with courage and joy. His actions and spirit teach us to recognize abilities rather than disabilities, to adapt, and to find happiness in the simplest things.

The connection we've forged, the trust he places in my guiding hand, and his ceaseless joy in exploring his world have enriched my life immeasurably. Little has taught me to see beyond physical limitations and appreciate the deeper qualities that make each individual special.

His story encourages us all to look past superficial imperfections and value the unique characteristics that define us.
