17 Best Toys For Lazy Cats

Toys are more than just playthings for our feline friends; they are essential for their mental and physical well-being.

But what happens when your cat is a little on the lazy side and doesn't seem interested in playtime? This is a common issue, especially with older cats.

While playful kittens can turn almost anything into a toy, some cats, as they age, lose their desire to play.

This lack of interest can be attributed to health issues like obesity or simply to an individual cat's temperament.

Regardless of the reason, encouraging your cat to embrace their mischievous side is beneficial for their overall health.

One of the most effective ways to entice a lazy cat to play is by offering them the right toys.

17 Toys That Will Get a Lazy Cat To Play

I have found simple things like a ball of foil, straws, catnip on a towel, dragging a string with secure hair pony (while in your sight), boxes, a pile of sacks (without handles) or newspapers to be some of my cat’s favs. Also, Da-Bird, flexible stick with clear, stretchy thread with a squiggly worm from Amazon are also great.

Great article! #1 is our #1, along with a couple that are not listed here, the Cat Dancer and da Bird wand-and-lure interactive toys. Catnip mice, birds, fish, pillows, etc., are sure cat pleasers, too, and for something different, try toys with honeysuckle or valerian, and the rip-snortin' SILVERVINE!:dizzycat:

I learned early on not to spend money on toys for Pantera- they only last a day or two. An example: Carnaval came and went recently (In the beginning of March this year), so Iwas able to grab some feathers from used Carnaval costumes. Not regular feathers, the big peacock sized feathers. They last almost a week each, but now the living room is covered with red, green, and blue bits of the feather. The plastic balls don't even last that long :eek3:

Yet another informative, educational and interesting article, for which I thank you! We are on our second Fling-Ama-String toy, and I put it away because the batteries leaked (on each one!) and the elastic stretched past usefulness. Now that I see the company replaces parts, I'll investigate this! (The battery corporation, which happens to be the one most heavily advertised, sent me a coupon the first time. The second time, I didn't bother, because I won't buy those "copper-top" batteries any more. Just sayin'.) I don't have photos or prices, but another line of toys made for different ages and activity levels is the PetStages line.
Couldn't get my cats interested in that so I took it apart and duct taped the string to a wand. They love their new wand toy!

I always get a rise out of my cats when i put a long sleeve on and tuck my hand in the sleeve and kinda play peek a boo with my fingers, I always play with my cats using my hands sometimes I get scratched but it's out of excitement and fun so I don't mind. Keep that in mind if you go this route

I must say that all of these toys are great, thank you for such good article. I especially like super roller, which I have, and even my older cats still play with it. And of course my boys chase the balls all around the place and carry the softer toys around in their mouth. There is a small scratch pad though, very broken, but they also still play with it a lot.
