Be Careful What You Name Your Cat

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

Well, be careful what you say about it if you name it after someone. Don’t take my word for it, ask the Canadian Transport Minister’s assistant.

According to this latest headline, people attending a gala dinner last night heard the Minister mention that Lady Thatcher had passed away. While the shocked guests were reminiscing about the former British Prime Minister, the Minister’s assistant started working on an official statement. Fortunately, he did contact Buckingham Palace prior to issuing anything so only mild embarrassment ensued as he was promptly told that 84 years old Dame Thatcher is still very much alive.

As it happens, the Minister’s 16 years old cat was the one to have passed away. She was named Lady Thatcher.

Our condolences to the Minister’s family.  I can only guess that he must have been overheard by someone else, as I am pretty sure the owner of a cat named Thatcher would have had his cat on mind first.

Political Heatwave

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

With the US elections approaching, our current events forum – IMO – is heating up. While it is definitely not the focus of our cat forums, it’s interesting to watch cat lovers debate over the latest political news. The economy, foreign policy, and other matters too – all debated with the passion that only us animal lovers can feel. Granted, this forum is NOT for everyone. In fact, unless you’re an established member of at least one month, with at least 100 posts under your wing, you can’t participate in discussions. You can always have fun reading them though.

And as we always say about IMO – if you can’t stand the heat… go visit the cat care forums ;)
