And now to our very special cat in the spotlight: Scotty

I cam across this beautiful picture of Scotty in our June photo contest thread :

Scotty is one of two cats living with our forum member emrldsky and here’s what she posted in his name on his page -

I am a large kitty, but please don’t call me fat. I’m just big-boned (even the vet says so!). I can be sensitive, and sweet, but I often come off as hungry and irritated. I love my mom and dad a lot, but I tend to snuggle with my mom more. Dad is ok with that.

Popsie’s Meowmy sent in this lovely picture -

I really do think his personality shines right through this lovely picture, doesn’t it? Here’s what his Meowmy says about him -

This is Popsie. I adopted him as a kitten and he will be turning 17 in a few weeks. He is a very loving cat, loves to get scritches and give bunts. He is a mommas boy to the max. His favorite thing to play with is anything string like that I drag around the house. He also likes to get into a lot of mischief. I spoil him rotten everyday.

CarolPetunia is the forum member in the spotlight this week, so I thought it would be apt to feature one of her beautiful felines as our cat in the spotlight! Carol has six cats, and you can see their pages here.

Picking up just the one was not easy! They’re all absolutely gorgeous and Carol had made them wonderful detailed cat pages. They all have such unique names too, so at the very least, let’s mention them all – Pearl Noelle, Sassy Lane, Abby Helen, Dylan Ishmael, St. John Dundee and our cat in the spotlight today: Clyde Lee. Kudos Carol, on coming up with such wonderful unique names for your furbabies!

Clyde Lee is one lucky kitten out of five born to a semi-feral cat brought into the shelter where Carol volunteers. Both mother cat, Abby Helen, and sweet little Clyde Lee found a forever home with Carol herself! He’s had a rough start with a major case of pneumonia, but Carol’s tender loving care saved this lucky cat’s life! Sounds complicated? It really isn’t! See, on our cat forums, we have a nice feature that members have come up with called “Spotlight Member of the Week”. One member is singled out and questioned, everything and anything that comes to the minds of the other members. Once the week is over, the poor, umm, I mean lucky, member gets to pick next week’s member in the spotlight.

And for this blog post, I thought it would be nice to put one of Bonnie’s cats in the spotlight, so we bring you young Ms Daphne -

Now, I am not sure if Daphne enjoys the publicity, considering the way she’s posing for the camera, but all the same, she is our cat in the spotlight today so you can read more about this beautiful calico here.

The Humane Society of the United States has a wonderful website, full of information about pets and pet care. They recently launched a new resource page about Feral Cat Care, filled to the brim with great links, so I want to share this with you today -

Cat in the Spotlight #7 is Widgen -

This stunningly beautiful boy started his life out as a one of ten (!) feral kittens captured and slowly tamed and rehomed. Forum member Whispern’Cats tells you more about the long-haired prince on his web page on TCS. Or you can just keep on gazing at this beautiful picture (click on it for a larger version).

Meet Marcel, our new Cat in the Spotlight! This green-eyed boy was born on a farm, believe it or not, but his unique grey-blue fur singled him out and destined him to be a lap cat with our forum member MuleNag.

Here’s a paragraph out of Marcel’s story by MuleNag -

I always wanted a gray kitty. I love the smokey look that grays have. My aunt had a litter of kittens and said there was one gray. I told her if it was a boy, I wanted it. So the little boy kitten was spoiled rotten until he could be weaned. My aunt was calling him Tick ‘cuz he was such a lap cat and clung to you like a tick.
