About The Cat Blog on TheCatSite.com
There is actually an “about us” page on TheCatSite.com, but I figured this being a blog, I can create a slightly different page with a more personal note.
My name is Anne and I am the owner and editor of TheCatSite.com. I can’t believe it’s been eight years since I started this site. The site is actually older than Ron, the oldest of my two boys! TCS means so much to me, it’s almost too difficult to put it into words, but I’ll give it a shot… so here goes.
Cats are my passion turned into a vocation. I started out doing cat behavior consultations here in Israel, and later teaching courses on the topic in the Cat Welfare Society of Israel. The Internet was always my medium though, from the early start, and it wasn’t long before I decided to focus my energy in that direction. TheCatSite.com was established in 2000 and Meowhoo.com joined it two years later, as a joint initiative by cat expert and writer Mary Anne Miller and myself.
I am officially a work-from-home-mom with the cat sites, and other online ventures, forming my online business. The cat sites are so much more than that though. With both TCS and Meowhoo, my goal is to promote cat welfare via the web. This is done through educating and providing information about these wonderful animals, and bringing together people from across the globe to celebrate their feline companions. Managing such large websites isn’t always easy, to say the least. With a wonderfully diverse community, like the one we have here on TCS, it can become quite difficult at times even. People don’t always see eye-to-eye on every issue, and with cats held so dear to our hearts, there is quite a lot of passion going into some debates!
The frustrations are worth it though. My real joy is in thinking about all the cats whose lives were changed thanks to TCS – cats and kittens rescued from the streets, neutered on time, or spared from declawing – it really does make it worth every minute!
